I was ooaking dolls back in 2004 or so...ooaking means taking a doll or anything and making it "one of a kind"......so I added clay fangs to this boy toddler doll and some paint and his name of course, is Slugger...I sold him. I also ooaked a set of Barbie Ken dolls to be the vampire, Frankenstein, werewolf, etc, and sold that set. I will need to look for that photo of that set upstairs, as I lost the photos on my computer of that set, when I crashed one time...so I will look later for that. In the meanwhile, here is Slugger.... Also, you mentioned Monster High dolls, Ari. They are a super craze.........all right. I sold most of the ones I had....but I do have quite a collection of Living Dead Dolls by Mezco. I bring them from their tombs in the basement to see the light of day here Halloween month....Isn't this one beautiful?
Do you guys creep out at your dolls occasionally? They creep me out just looking at them. Though I can appreciate the interest.
Here is Mezco's official home page for living dead dolls. they are cool as they each come in a coffin with a death certificate with a poem on how the doll died. Brilliant to the two guys who thought of these! They are 2 science fiction nerds making a fortune now....You can see past collections and years with the archive link on this page and see the poems..... http://www.livingdeaddolls.com/
No, I am not creeped out. I find them funny....but then I am used to horror, sci fi and fantasy, anyway.... Some of the realistic looking dolls can creep me out more sometimes......but I know they are just dolls and an imaginary world...I only get creeped out by real things, I guess.....
Rainy, I got an email from Dollsville that it was raining cats and dogs, and here is the new Grumpy cat by Gund. I thought of you...This cat tempts me too... http://www.dollsville.com/index.php?ProductID=8393&CategoryID=36
Let me guess you have one of these as well...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM29pbNlDOI"]Twilight Zone Talky Tina Doll In Color - YouTube Hotwater
You have to watch Seinfeld - The Doll to get it I think. Someone else will see it and they will laugh. That's all I know, it's to entice Seinfeld fans. =p
well, I knew it was from Seinfield....George what's his name....I never watched the show much..... No, I do not have the Twilight Zone doll, hotwater...and no, I do not have all dolls....although it seems like it sometimes.....I collected them from 2002-2013.....mostly Himstedts....the realisitic....over 30" ones. I showed photos of them before, and will again here at some point....then there was ....it started with Barbies galore...I love the I love Lucy Barbies.....Strawberry Shortcake dolls for awhile, Madeline dolls, Madame Alexander dolls, Blythe dolls, Living Dead dolls, BJD dolls.....call it my insanity years......
Basically George's fiancé moves into his apartment and brings across a large doll collection. One of the dolls in the collection looks exactly like George's mother and Susan likes to sleep with it. It completely freaks George out and in the photo scene he's been talking to it in public as he would his mother. At the end of the show George's dad catches sight of it and rips it's head off as he can also hear it talk to him. Not sure if the doll was made for the episode or it was a coincidence but it does look like his mum. XD
That is a very funny plot, Irm..... Here is my favorite Himstedt doll. Her name is Monja, and her soul is most like mine.....and she reminds me of me....deep.....lol
Irm...Annette Himstedt.....look her up on ebay. She is German and had her factory in Germany, but then she went bankrupt, so she closed her factory and is now just making very limited porcelain dolls that cost thousands of dollars.....nothing I could ever buy. Monja is vinyl.
I gotta say, they freak me out a little too. Not the zombie ones but the realistic ones do. My cousin used to also have a porcelain doll collection and puppet collection and as a little on those puppets scared me when I visited her..
