Hudak scares the fuck outta me.

I forgot to change my addy on my license and health card. I hope I can get it done quick enough because we changed ridings. Utilities aren't in my name, either. Hoping my EI and mailed bank statement will count. I'll have to phone and find out. Thankfully our riding both federal and provincial tend to go NDP by landslides.

 

We tend to go PC here, same with Burlington. The library at my school is named after Mike Harris.

edit: Although, in the last federal election the Cons only won by 17 or 18 votes over the Liberals, and we were one of the robo-call targeted ridings, so it very well could have (should have?) gone to the Liberals.

Yeah, apparently there was quite a lot of backlash from the professors here. You know, because they read books and pay attention to reality.

 

Reminds me of America. It's all about playing the blame game and "compromise" means 100% getting your party's way especially with Obama in office. So nothing gets done.

Allot of it has to do with who the president is. He's black, liberal, and believed to be a Muslim. So Republicans will tear apart anything he does. I guarantee if Bush had done the same thing those same people would praise it.

 

Armed Forces Appreciation day = more fly-overs by fighter jets. Scaring the shit out of my dog.

the mike harris public sector massacre back in the mid nineties allowed my father to retire 5 years earlier than he expected...without losing any pension ..

Maybe we should just vote the greens in, at least when they fuck up, nobody can say that we should have paid attention to what they did in the past.

 

Some cuts were good and well needed.

As a new teacher (his practicum was spent on the picket line) my hub lost a lot out of the Harris years. Competing with seniority became tougher than normal once schools started closing down. And I know it's not just Mike that's too blame, there so many problems with wage despairity between good teachers and fucking School Board admin fuckers.

It was his cuts that we're still feeling now in the ER rooms. The mental health system I'm having such a problem with right now echoes back to cuts, 18 years later. My MIL disability got sliced (She's got MS)

While I'm sure he got some cuts right, the poorest and the most vulnerable people in the province suffered dearly for it.

 

The teacher's union has been getting slightly better at compromise.
I never saw a problem with Rae Days. I'd rather lose 5-6 paid days a year than not have a job!

Having one of those 'bleh' days. No matter what I should be doing, the internet is more interesting. I should really make a point of not being online from 8am-4pm or something like that.

saved a baby snake that was in the road day before yesterday. I did not want him to get run over...I have seen quite a few squished snakes on the road from traffic here....He was so cute. I don't know what kind of snake he was...not a typical looking one....so I used a stick to swing him into the grass on the side....He was scared and was throwing his head at me with the tongue going...so that scared me a little, but both of us survived the incident, and I can't stop thinking about that darling creature.
I do this for anything I see on the road...alot of those orange and black fat furry caterpillars...I don't know how many of those I have flung off the roads.
