Maybe you should do it before you go to sleep then, I've had great success from that method in the past. :) Tell yourself you won't go to sleep til your room is clean. Then you get to wake up with a clean room and a clean conscience... Or else you just don't go to sleep.. Haha.

Yep it's for school. My semester has finished, I'm now in exam prep week. This essay is my last essay for the semester. I've done quite well in my other assignments and I'm scared that I won't for this one and will fail the unit (nervous about the exam too). The content is just not my interest :( I've read most of the novels I've needed to but retain like 3% of the information I should.. Blah.

I'm in the opposite boat. This has been the busiest few months of my life between full-time teaching, a masters program, planning a wedding and getting ready to immigrate.

I wish I could have a day to relax.

What happens if u dont do well on the exam? if it means failing the class or something that should be motivation enough to study, even though its boring.

easier said then done though

Just stand up and start walking towards your goal, don't think about it just start doing it, eventually it will get easier.

From the future I say that the 3rd of June is a marvellous day. You shall do greatness. :2thumbsup:

If I fail this essay and fail my exam then yes there is a chance I'll fail the class. I'd have to get 30% or less to fail though, I don't think I'm that bad. I don't know how to approach this one. :(

    I'm being a whiner, I know.. I need to get my A into G and just do'et.

What are some of the questions regarding postmodernism and postcolonialism? Maybe we can get you started!

The class is about novels and film.

I don't think I'm going to choose a question concerning post modernism and/or postcolonialism.. The two I'm thinking of are:

    Is a director an auteur?

    and

'On or about Dec 1910, human character changed'. Assess V. Woolf's statement w/ regards to Mrs Dalloway

I'm thinking of the auteur one though. I have to discuss the question with reference to a clockwork orange and/or apocalypse now.

This happens to me a lot - the freaking out before an essay and stressing about not passing. Especially now that the semester is almost over. In all honesty, though, I put in a lot of work and I usually get really good grades.

Need to channel my zen :p

Hm yeah it's a real drag to make an essay out of some question that may sound interesting but have no clue about how to start.. I agree from the option you shared this is the best one to pick! I'd clearly pick Clockwork orange (but that's just because I dig that movie and watched it several times so probably easier :p) and first find some info on what Kubrick did with the original story/book. You could try mainstream sources like Wiki for that!

Euugh you dug the movie? My mum was telling me that my nanna went to see it with my granddad, and nanna was pretty much scared for life haha.. Obviously the realism is pretty outdated now so it's not as "scary" but I found the movie still disturbing. The whole carnivalesque thing, the music, the whole lack of empathy...

Have you read the book? Out of all the novels I've had to read this semester, the book was my fav. It is quite brilliant. A lot of people disagree, I have found, but no matter.. I think that the "ultra-violence" is somewhat masked by the nadsat Alex speaks, and that doesn't transfer so well on screen. He still speaks in nadsat but the genuinity is lost along the way. Kubrick didn't include the final scene (which wasn't actually in the American version - I think the American version.. could be UK version.. Sorry guys..) and that throws a lot away (in terms of the novel structure, 3*7 chapters, as well as any so-called 'moral' of the story).

I think between ACO and HoD/'pocolypse now, I could argue that a director is an auteur, and do so happily and confidently. Aw thanks Asmo you da bomb :2thumbsup: I feel the zen!

I love the movie (and a lot of Kubricks other movies too)! I didn't read the book. The lack of empathy only makes it more interesting and a tad surreal too I think. Not sure what the final scene was anymore, but in my memory the moral of the story was still there in the movie (and that's the only thing I could got it from since i didn't read the book... well I think I discussed the story here too years ago :p).

Hate to give him some credit but Iamnotaman has a good tip too: make a planning and break the thing you have to do apart in steps. Now you can accomplish a dreadful task one step at a time. It really works!

Studies have shown that people who rise early in the morning are more productive and motivated. I can attest to this as I never sleep past 7 anymore and I start doing things as soon as I wake up. I don't really know what its like to be unmotivated anymore, but when I used to be a night owl I was pretty lazy for the most part.

Don't you work third shift pr?
