The fact that you haven't been with anyone in a while does not mean that you don't have herpes.

The sore on your lip likely is herpes, but herpes simplex 1 (which infects the mouth, and is often referred to as a cold sore) versus herpes simplex 2 (which is primarily genital).

Herpes 1 is not necessarily sexually transmitted. Outbreaks can occur long after initial infection.

I get cold sores too. They are bloody annoying! Always seem to come just when I don't need them. My parents might then be inclined to ask why aren't you going out tonight? And I'd nearly feel like saying, "well I'm hardly going pull a girl with a cold sore!"

worst thing is that if you got a cold sore and go down on a woman or she goes down on you with one then you transmit the virus to that area. You can have both down there or up there. Once you got it then you got it but cold sores are very common and it doesn't mean you are dirty, it's like saying only dirty people get lice.

This is true, someone who gets a boil down there might be very clean, in fact maybe too clean. A boil is usually a hair follicle gone bad but if you told someone you had it there they would usually think you must not be clean.
Most skin issues have nothing to do with being clean or not but some could have something to do with uncleanliness, or improper wound care. Some issues like yeast infection which usually shows in the groin on women and the toes on men, are actually from the gut, but some people think it's due to not washing down there. Clean the intestines and you won't need a masking anti-itch cream in your Who'sMaWhatsIt.

Ha. Um yea it's probably a cold sore. Which most people have herpes simplex 1 (cold sores)... like 80 or 90% of people....even if they've only had it once and haven't had another outbreak. Anyways, they are no big deal. I just wouldn't let anyone go down on me when they have one because they can be transmitted that way. Anyways, eh, no big deal. You probably make it more noticeable by drawing attention to it by acting weird.

I get cold sores and when I feel them coming I use regular tooth paste, when I am home I cover that area and it dries it out. Normally it makes it really small or not even at all. If you get them once in a while you'll feel them coming.

ALOT of people have them and it's embarrassing but it's like masturbating...no one wants to admit in front of others that we ALL play with ourselves.

the worst is when you get a lip pimple. it's not even a cold sore, but it sure as hell looks like mouth herpes.

anyway, obvious solution to OP's problem is to dress as a transvestite and wear lipstick to the party. more likely to find someone into that than someone who isn't worried about STDs these days.
