Windows XP is what is wrong, not the rest. Ditch the OS and be happy!

It can be done. Pretty easy in fact. In Windows XP, and XP Pro, you need to RIGHT click on the install file, then Properties, and finally, Compatibility. You can then run it under a Shell of Windows 95,98,ME. My favorite chess game needs me to do that to install it.

You might need to set up a dual boot like I have for some really old games...

If it's a dos game, good luck getting it to work in xp. A lot of older games don't work with xp because it is nt based, not dos based. Windows 98 was the last dos based os, which is why your game worked with it.

That's a very good point, Al. The latest version of DOS that I know about, is V6.22
All 4 disks of it. And you DO NOT want to install it on todays larger Hard Drives. It makes the damn thing 2 Gigs at MOST!

xp has that crappy version, 'Command Prompt'. That's probably why your game isn't working, because xp doesn't really have dos. Alot of the commands are changed (for example Dos's "del" and "deltree" were changed to "rmdir" in command prompt). Old dos was soo much better than xp's command prompt.

Command prompt also makes it alot harder to retrieve files when windows screws up and won't boot up. arrrgh. sorry, i just needed to vent about that, i went totally off topic.
