Anyone ever get mail through the post and you just don't want to open it because you don't want to know what's inside...Usually bills, appointments, etc.? In fact I also kind of have email phobia, for similar reasons.A lot of the time I just don't want to know.People zeroing in on me and stuff.Organisations aware of your existence, jumping into your life.

Do u mean letters where the text is from newscuttings?
And there's a razor blade at the opening, which cuts your finger?
And it reads "now you have AIDS"?

The delivery system can be abused. I think that's a rational phobia or fear because it has a basis in reality (nobody can say the delivery system has never been abused).

As for invasion of privacy and rights (organizations aware of your existence..), well I suppose I don't know what that means. Solicitors?

I was just saying how it's so funny that when I was a kid, I was always so pissed when there was nothing in the mail for me and now that I'm an adult, an empty mailbox is reason to celebrate. Once you live on your own, nothing good comes to you in the mail if its not your birthday or if you haven't been signing up for lots of free samples.

physically harmful devices and substances can be sent through physical mail. the worst you can get from e-mail or cell texting, is damage to the physical device on which you read it.

i was never fond of corrispondence when physical writting and parcel delivery were all that there was. i really isolated myself then. not by intent, but just couldn't see it as worth the effort.

on the other paw there ARE nice things that come to me through the postal service.
my subscriptions to periodicals principally. i do actually still read published text printed on paper. i look forward to my semi-monthly hit of analog-sf, and in the past and perhaps future, other subscriptions such as model railroader and mother earth news.

Post mail only bothers me when it is yet again that some computer screwed me up somehow

email is far worse, I never get Post versions of viruses/malware etc and FAR fewer scams

I've always loved snail mail and am fascinated with the system of sending and receiving letters around the world. I used to go with my dad to the post office and he would let me drop letters in the mail box and I thought it was so fun. As a kid, I had tons of pen-pals and got excited when I received a letter, dissapointed if there was nothing. I have one snail mail pal from hipforums! :) fairlight, I actually wanted to send you a postcard..

I remember trying to post a letter to mickey mouse when I was 5 years old. My friend and I actually recorded ourselves singing songs on a cassette tape and put it in an envelope along with a letter. Haha. Years later, I realized my mom probably got to it before the mail man retrieved it.

The only thing I ever get in the mail are bills and coupons I'll never use, and yet I find myself excited to check the mail every day as if I might receive something of value
