<< I don't know what the ramifications would be to change but I know exactly what they'll be if they don't change.>> It seems to me the majority of the real actions actually keep steering us to that place and pushing from behind as well. "Nudge"....
Stumbled upon an informative webpage http://apps.npr.org/unfit-for-work/ Welfare doesn't mean poor people. Welfare means *well-being*. In the interest of well-being, we have "safety nets" called "welfare". It is meant to preserve well-being and prevent severe degeneration.
I don't know if I like this tactic of painting a bad picture in order to get people to do the political and activism work. BUILDING and constructing, shaping and cultivating. It takes citizen participation and this is how they go about doing it:
I really dont want minimum wage to raise.. Im saying this even though its possible that very soon I will be working a minimum wage job. Its gonna suck going from a 15$ job to half the salary, how that happened is a whole different story. But anyway, from my point of view right now, keeping a job that pays 10 bucks an hour sounds pretty nice. There are many jobs out there that pay 10 bucks an hour that I might eventually snag later on and be able to keep. What I really do not want to see happen is... say I do get a 10 dollar an hour job and then im suddenly being told that "minimum wage is now 10 dollars an hour!!!" Id be thinking.... "WHAT THE FUCK!? I just went thru all the trouble to get off minimum wage and now im right back there again, even though ive kept my job and put forth the efforts required to keep that more than minimum wage job..." The truth is, minimum wage is still minimum wage. The number doesnt fucking matter... Hell, the minimum wage has been increased many many times. If we keep it up, the nation's poor will be millionares. Yes, they will be fucking millionares, but they will be starving, miserable, homeless... The numbers DONT FUCKING MATTER! Fucking with the numbers only gives people a "quick fix". In the long run all your doing is fucking with the numbers. If im on minimum wage, leave me there and let me figure out a way to better myself. I dont want a temporary taste of the "better life" because all that does is give me momentary comfort. Then when the price of all life's neccessities rises because employers like grocery stores, gas stations which are all private enterprises will naturally raise the prices of their goods and services, ill have a very rude awakening one day. The extra three bucks an hour wont mean shit when the price of gas/milk is 8 bucks a gallon. So yea... Dont fucking raise minimum wage, and make a 10 dollar an hour job a minimum wage job. I'd be happy to find a 10 dollar an hour job to fall back on right about now.. It would be a real bitch if I woke up one morning to find out im back to the bottom of the totem pole again.
