a new-ism though . a philosophic ism is socially respectful , bestowed by
scholars and from the sense of an associative body of work (even as it emerges) .

Yes, ginalee14, this thread has certainly turned down a dark path, filled with somber minor chords--a path that threatens to raise the dead, that they too may dance under a black sun. (Or at least the metaphorical dead---the zombie like living humans, whose souls are long dead, stiff and cold, murdered by the manipulations of consumerism, and the deadening powers of control in Modern culture)

And yet no one seems worried that we have discovered that the Republican Party is harboring the Anti-Christ.

But this is only to be expected---after all, this is the age of nihilism, predicted by Nietzsche as he watched the collapse of the traditional European culture of barons and other gentlemanly classes all around him.

Yet voices still speak out here and there, like LornaDoom, preaching that, 'God is not dead!' But alas, we have gone too far down the path of Rationalism (which in the end was the logical conclusion of Christian philosophy anyway, as it objectively placed man above all of creation--a lovechild between Greek Platonic ideals and Hebraic religion.) Having pierced through the Modern Age, we see Paul for who he really was--a fraud and a heretic.

Perhaps this age of nihilism will be even too much for the Republican's AntiChrist, and as he tries to rise to power, will be defeated by mockery, ridicule, and rejection. He will struggle and make noise---but alas mankind will prove to be even too decadent for Satan himself.

We are then left with nothing more than to dance with the dead under a black sun, as the wasteland of a once living planet---soon to be drained of all its resources---eventually falls silent as a cold dead poisoned cinder, where even the roaches fail to survive.

 

Is this really the age of nihilism?

Nihilism doesn't per se mean that you don't care about anything. It just means morals and truth can not be known.

 

It also means they don't adapt morals just because they seem good (because they don't believe in that, right? ). Which is what an environmentalist would be doing.

 

Morals are subjective, not universal. A nihilist can be an evironmentalist because it may seem 'good' to them personally.
