Hm, am I an environmentalist? No real fundamentals, really. I just grew up in the country and am used to seeing lots of plants and animals and breathing healthier air and drinking healthier water. The city is just very stifling.

I suppose the biggest thing is things like acid rain, and cancer.
Skin cancer which now cmes through the holes in the ozone layer. My science teacher said that if things progressed the way they have been, our kids, and maybe us, will be wearing hats, longs sleeves, and face masks when we go outside to protect out skin. A bit paranoid, if you ask me.

I'll put aside my spiritual beliefs for this on

I would have to say the main reason is my health. I have bad asthma, and skin disorders (My skin peels off on various parts of my head, the skin on my eyelids used to flake and peel, now it's my neck and scalp) and being in the big cities usually irritates this. However, my health is just generally bad, bad eyesight, bad teeth, bad skin, bad lungs, big family history o heart problems/cancers, and the like, and I know the environment has a lot to do with health.

Otherwise, I've got nothing that couldn't be considered spiritual-religious/earth respect.

However, I think cannabalism would be a good solutiuon to the starving people problem. We can eat our dead. We don't have to kill them, just wait for them to croak and then dig in. Theoretically. Or we can hunt other humans. That solves overpopulation.

I am an enviromentalist for one reason. The way we are living at the moment is unsustainable. There will come a time in our lives where things will get a little sticky. As for global warming this is an issue that cannot be ignored. From my particular branch of science climate change is a very hot topic. The atmosphere is more complicated than a lot of people realise. It also has lots of feedback systems. Once a certain threshold is reached then it will just change in ways that are unstopable unless things are done now. It is nieve to think it would be just warmer. That is only a tiny aspect of it. There is one planet to look at and should be a warning to us. Venus is very inhospitable. If we carry on as we are the earth could end up like that. We have cheated to get where we are in our civilization. Our numbers should be more like 6 Million not 6 Billion. I also hear about people saying about volcanos as a source of green house gasses. Yes they are but the amount they produce is nothing in comparison to antroprogenic sources. The amount of greenhouse gasses has been monitored for sometime it shows an increase. Also what is more disturbing is the fact that 50% of CO2 is drawn from the atmosphere and stored in carbon sinks (Things like rainforests and algae blooms). But how much more can these sinks take? If these fail then CO2 in the atmosphere will double. If you are not worried about global warming then you very well should be.
