Then understand the effective ritual/initiation is baptism, water the universal solvent, cleansing the head and washing the feet. The feet are the ground you stand on the head is washed of distortion. Symbolic language enough to perhaps keep you mesmerized for a moment.

no ritualistic beliefs and practice actually strengthen your odds... (not just for a moment, maybe as in the way mantras hack your subconscious?)
thats right though the idea of baptism has stuck with me for some time.

It is not the problem, the approach that teaches but the solution. Ritual hides in plain sight that which only the sincere seeking can apprehend. Knowledge at large is esoteric, hidden, not because it is obscure but because of the limited corridor of refraction we see through. Perception is not knowledge but can lead to it. The translation from perception into knowledge comes when you realize thou art that, when you realize your shared being. The ritual structure are the cherubim guarding the gate against illegitimate entry.

Mantra is concentrated self study. It's purpose is not to lead you to a specific location but that you come to understand the meaning of tonality. My meditation is beyond symbols.

Sometimes it is very difficult to find a difference between a cult and a religion. It is not the religion per say but rather the interpretation of doctrine that can cause a blur in the lines.

Cults do have a more difficult time obtaining tax exemption.

I started out as a born again Christian. When most condemned me for being gay, I left the church and explored other religious/spiritual options. That's how I ultimately became a Unification church member (Moonies).

The Moonies (considered a cult big time) were much more open minded about my homosexuality. However, when they began to plan my marriage to an unknown woman - I hotfooted it out of the door.

It's sort of odd that most folks consider cults evil. The Moonies never bothered me after I left their residence (where I was living). And that was close to 3 decades ago.

However, I still tolerate (as best I can) the bigotry I hear from many so-called Christian folks:

    Being LGBTQ is a sin?
We have no right to adopt children?
Legal marriage is forever being questioned and debated?

In truth, I have more fondness for the Moonies I once knew, than the Christians that do not follow in the footsteps of Christ.

The lesser of two evils (IMO).

I very much respect and admire Christ.

But I will honestly state that many Christians have little or nothing to do with his beautiful practices and words.

P.S. Mother Teresa was a great exception. She did not just talk the talk- she walked the walk. And she ended up with many cynics and critics because of it.

And none actually lead to peace. We first dream of peace and then suddenly awaken to it when it becomes our only hope.

I visited the page, wanna know what I see?

Some pictures of kool aid and hitler. WHY do so many people accept those things? I never talk about hitler and I never make remarks about "kool aid". I simply don't conform to it. Are those exact things not mind control? I think they are. I don't even know what "kool aid" is supposed to mean, I just know people say it all the time. I don't get it, and I don't even want to. Know what I mean? So basically, people who talk about "the kool aid" are the ones who drank it?

    Anyway, was jesushaddreadlocks banned?

Peace has to come from the inside and it can not be found until accepted.

I do think that religion/cults can bring out the good in people but I also know it can bring out the opposite as well. It is often the interpretation/understanding that is lacking rather than the message.

I think we are in agreement on the peace.

People usually tend to seek out answers for themselves when they are in crisis of some sort. I have often wondered if faith or spirituality finds them or they find it as they need it at that point. Not that it probably makes a difference in the long run as how ever they seek to find what they need is more important.

That is part of survival for some as it fills a need that they have.

I have known some who have turned to traditional faiths and some who have gone to "cults". The ones who "found" something that worked for them were the ones who took the healing or knowledge that met their need or want. Or as you stated the knowledge flowed with them to have them find the peace in them to move forward with life.

Perhaps it is a coping skill that we seek as much as the spirituality.

    Hey Gina:

About the Kool Aid. Do a Google search on Jim Jones. He was a manipulative Christian leader that ultimately convinced his flock that it was better to die by drinking Kool Aid laced w/poison rather than to live a secular/materialistic life. Several hundred people died as a result.

He managed to convince many people to give up the American way of life - and told them the best thing to do was to get out of the country. Many people believed him. Many drank the poison Kool Aid. And too many people died. It's a very sad story. And one we all should learn from.
