You don't need to buy a tv to watch tv shows or movies. There's a lot of crap, but there's also a lot that can be described as a masterpiece.

To the video game statement: No.

I'm too lazy to read through the whole thread, so forgive me if some or all of these have already been suggested:

    TV Shows:
    - The Wire (even just the first season, it's the best anyway)
    - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
    - Archer

    Games:
    - Warcraft II (I know that it's old, but it's still an awesome game)
    - Skyrim

Also, I recommend Cobra 11. It's German, it's silly, funny and entertaining.

If you dig WW2 series and german stuff I recommend Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter. I've had it in general with all those WW2 movies and stuff but this one is pretty good AND of course one of the few german ones that shows a realistic and gruesome view of the Wehrmacht:

If you also take movie recommendations, I saw 2 great movies this week, had not enjoyed a new movie that much for awhile, let alone 2  One is Gravity, which looks literally awesome, the other is the Lone ranger which I found to be hilarious!
I had them in superb quality and together they weren't even 2 gig

The Wire! How could I forget about that? The first season is the best, but I think the rest are still really good.

Janja, I'm confused. I was telling themnax that what he said about video games is the furthest thing from the truth, but I couldn't bring myself to say so much because it was too stupid. I know not everyone likes video games, but there's definitely more variety than GTA.

I thought Gravity was visually impressive, but I can't stand George Clooney or Sandra Bullock.

    I don't particularly like WW2 themed stuff, I am more interested in DDR/BRD, so 50s, 60s, 70s.

Me too at this time. But I was fascinated with ww2 as a kid already. I have enjoyed later movies about it as well, including hollywood movies, but they get rather over the top, far fetched or specialized. Nothing wrong with the latter by default of course but personally I prefer the more realistic dutch or english approach (often not without overly sensational stuff neither but hey) or this german take on it.

So if rollin is into it he should look it up! :2thumbsup:

That is unfortunate (where it comes to this movie then) :p I had a slight weakness for Bullock ever since I watched Demolition man as a kid :D Clooney never dissappointed me with his acting (which is pretty much all that matters about him to me).

    Well look at that.

Would you be interested in a documentary about an old woman from Kiev, who translates Dostoevsky's books into German?
Or one about a young Turkish boy Mustafa who wants to become a baklava master?

    A few TV gems I've found worthy;
Todd and The Book of Pure Evil
    Trailor Park Boys
    Lost Girl
Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell (yes, that is the name of the show)
    Rogue
    Orange is the New Black
How Not to Live Your Life
    Dead Like Me
The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
    Torchwood
    Bored to Death
    Continuum
    Chickens
    Death Valley
    The IT Crowd
    The Middleman

Most of those are shows are not "mainstream" and many are no longer on the air, but definitely worth the download if you can find them. :2thumbsup:
They cover the gambit from comedy-drama-horror-& sci-fi, I'm sure there is something you will enjoy.
