And yours does? What would be the reason for that? That's why I put SF into the category of "great place to visit, terrible place to live". A lot of places fit that description. :cheers2:
I wasn't the one making the original claim. Recounting your negative experiences is fair enough. But to generalize from them and make broad sweeping statements about the city is not. I agree on both points. I love San Francisco and visit fairly often. But I couldn't live there.
Our own experiences and opinions is all we have here. We don't do scientific studies at HF. I'd rather hear about a place from real people instead of hearing only from marketing people who were paid to create a web site, who will never say anything negative. I know that all my favorite cities have flaws. No place is perfect. Feel free to post about it in the new thread.
shit, now i feel silly about that scientific journal article i wrote about how the average penis is 9 inches.
Dude, only one of the many complaints I had about San Fran was to do with the gays. Now you're being racist against Irish! And you have to admit, the asians have a very bad personality.. they are no fun.
Bakersfield. Too hot. Really, really hot in the Summer. We were there in July of this past Summer. Passing thru on our way to the San Diego Zoo. Had to get the front left tire replaced for the rental minivan on Independence Day. Thank goodness the Firestone Store was open. At the motel lobby, met a 'chollo' from the area. He had a skin job, with the tattoo (are you listening Mama & Rubysoho6?) of KC on the back of his head. Big letters. I asked if he was a Chiefs or Royals fan. Told me he got that question all the time. It stood for Kern County. Said he did it to show his pride in his turf. He had that Mexican Macho going on. I told him I could dig it. - JKHolman
I said you post from Ireland. I said nothing about the Irish. Hell, part of my background is Irish. I look it. And part of my family is Chinese and Taiwanese. My dear friend is from HK, his dad fled Mao, and he's got a great loving personality. Wickedly funny, giving, aware. You, however post anti gay comments with regularity, under your various names. So, who is hateful?
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Ugly, you feel dumber just by walking in it. Terrible food everywhere. Santiago, Dominican Republic. I can't think of one good thing and I've been there so many times. Ottawa, Canada. It's so lame and cold.
I agree, its very disturbing when homosexual extremists take over a district of a town. I mean, do they REALLY need to walk around THE REST OF town in cowboy chaps and swimming trunks with a hole cut out where the behind is? I mean Brighton has been ruined by this kind of nonsense.
A failing grade for both of you. Downtown looks kind of old in spots, abused by college kids. The best stuff for adults (a little shallow for my taste) is in and around the "Broadway at the Beach" complex, on highway 17. http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/ I prefer Barefoot Landing, in North Myrtle. I love the outdoor bar and stage at the House of Blues. Myrtle and North Myrtle both have plenty of good food if you know where to look for it, but people who really know the area always make one road trip every summer up to Calabash, on the state line, for the ultimate fresh seafood experience.
The whole Broadway at the beach is trash, filled with dumb people. The beach is ugly. When I went there I was a vegetarian and that has to be one of the most vegetarian unfriendly places I've been. You can't get good beer anywhere and there's just nothing at all that even remotely interests me. It's the closest version of hell on earth that I've experienced. I'd never go again and would tell everyone not to go if asked. I wouldn't say that about the two other places I mentioned, because they're really not bad. I just don't like them. I think if I threw up and posted a picture of it here, that would fail to represent how much I hate Myrtle Beach.
lol. Myrtle Beach is wildly popular here because I'm about 4 hours away from it. Growing up everyone spent their vacation in Myrtle Beach and everyone went for "first week" when school let out each summer in high school. I don't really care for it. I was kinda surprised when I realized its a popular vacation destination for people all over the east coast, not just native south carolinians. I feel like its just a trashy party town for high schoolers and college kids. There are some family friendly aspects to it too but being family friendly has never been a big draw for me either. I've never understood those who go on vacation and end up playing mini golf. I think its weird Myrtle Beach is so popular when SC has better beaches to offer anyways.
Thanks, you can trust my taste, never my judgement lol Trashy party town for high schooler and college kids sounds accurate Meliai. That's the vibe I got from the place. A bunch of drunks everywhere and terrible loud music.
