Denver. A lot of is because that's where I grew up, so every time I visit it brings a great sense of nostalgia. It sill feels like my hometown. When I see the Rocky Mountains off to the west it makes me feel all warm inside.

Gotta say NYC-- To many reasons to mention for me...So much going on...never boring--just an electric place
born and raised there,,but havent lived there for many yrs

Boston- the history, the subway system is excellent, there are a million colleges which keeps a lot of the population on the younger side( an old fool like myself likes that)- very ethnic..
To mention only 1 more is hard
Ill go with Sante Fe, NM- ( I love SF & Boulder)- but Santa Fe has an older Hippie crowd, the Turquoise crowd I used to call them- just a cool place, beautiful surroundings
There are a few places in Ca- but they are more towns,,then cities.......
Never left the US except when in the army- and really didnt see to many nice cities-
oHH- Did like Toronto- -clean and diversified

To visit? L.A. because it feels like home, but I don't think I would feel that way if it were home.

At the moment, my favorite city is where I live-Nakhon, Thailand. It's the perfect size, next to the Gult of Thailand, Andaman Sea only 2 hours west by van.
Few tourists, cheap prices, two major modern shipping centers, glittering temples every couple of blocks in all directions, beautiful artwork even on the light poles..
parks everywhere, free museums, a free zoo with overpass walkways and fountains,
a huge park with paddle boat rental, horses for rent, and hiking/bike paths next to a large marsh area filled with exotic swamp birds, walkways over lagoons, I can get around by scooter,
a number of foreign teachers living around the city, an airport, open markets and small shops, cheap transportation, fresh, cheap food..

12-25-12, City pillar shrine, Na Mueang Park, Nakhon, Thailand http://primethai.smugmug.com/Travel...g3/1626437949_TJLx4dg#!i=1626437949&k=TJLx4dg

The French influence. The gaiety of the people. Most importantly, I feel more American in this city than anywhere else in the United States.

Could that be a reference to acceptance of cultural diversity and personal freedom? Those are often stated as important defining characteristics of America in general, but they seem strongest in NO.

    Boston and San Diego..

imo..the 2 best cities in America

Boston is great for its attractions and transportation..The T is fun and efficient and you can get to anywhere in the city. I used to sell soft pretzels at Downtown Crossing, Boston Common, in front of the State house and also delivered then to Fenway. I lived there for a year. What a great year, of course I was on some kind of drug most of the time and did learn how to juggle, which I still do to this day
