How cold is it where you are?

I'm a contractor for a power company. I spend most of my days about 40 feet in the air with no wind block. I really want to go out tomorrow but I can't find anyone to go with me and I can't go by myself.

 

It dropped down to -7 here last night...it was freezing! It's actually been quite cold (much below the average) here for the last few days. There is still snow everywhere from the snowstorm we had onThursday. We also had great abundance of freezing rain today.
It's been a great day to stay inside, watch movies and play guitar

 

I wasn't worried. It's going to be cold and we won't have heat but the conditions are kind of the thrill of it for me. I'm an adrenaline junkie who loves to push the limits...which explains why nobody will go out with me tomorrow.

 

And I should say...I have a son who works with us and really, really wants to do my job one day and I have no doubt that he would tough it out with me tomorrow but I don't want him to do this for a living. I want him to do something else but the more I tell him that, the more he doubles down and says he will do what I do. I have half a mind to take him out tomorrow but I think he would deal with it just to prove how tough he is and then where would I be trying to get him to do something else? He's a tough SOB and has no problem stepping up his game.

this damn cold..

 

I told my wife that I want to take the kid out tomorrow and put him in the freezer. She simply said...no.

 

That'd be crazy tomorrow. I'm sure you can bundle up and wear a face mask, but don't you need some decent hand dexterity for that?

 

Well...yeah but it will be ok. Of course you will get the beginning stages of frostbite but we have that almost everyday. You will get really, really cold once or twice and then you will get warm and be ok for the rest of the day. It happens every day and it's something we are used to. It's just part of our day in the winter.

I always find that when the temperature hovers around zero it is the worst for ice. I guess it makes sense, everything melts but then freezes again nice and smooth.

 

Were having the coldest winter here since ive been alive. 7 degrees right now high tomorrow is 5. I cant imagine your temps or having to work outside in this i though my hand was just gonna freeze off using the atm machine. to no avail the atm machine was so cold the buttons wouldnt work trying to type my pin in.

Its about 35 degrees and its raining so hard I'm ready to build an Ark

 

-5f today and -14 tomorrow. Wind chills are a lot worse -20 to -40. Definitely windy out there now.

 

I'm going to have to tape up some plastic around these window unit a/c units. There's lots of cold wind coming in.

Right now, it's 25F with a "feels like" temp of 8F.
