My car almost didn't start this morning, it's brutally cold outside. I don't think I've ever experienced cold like this before.

Nope, but this is the first day that it has really struggled.

I've noticed that there is a spot about 10-15km north of Orillia that has gas about 8-10 cents cheaper than here or in the GTA, so I always try to time my fill-ups for that. Although I only have a 42 litre tank, so the most I would save is $3 or $4... but it's the principle of it, haha.

 

Lots of snow coming down out there. Many school closings for other counties. I went by two of our local schools so maybe they already had the day off. They definitely were not open. We went to the park anyway. Grace loves the snow and ran around a lot. Now home and warm and drinking coffee. :coffee:

 

I'm excited to get back to school on Monday, I've been off for 2.5 weeks and now that the holidays are over and my wife is back at work, I'm getting pretty bored. I have a bit of work to do to prepare for school, but I know that I have enough time to do it on the weekend, which means that I won't end up doing it today or tomorrow... so I should probably just give up haha.

I'm preparing a 5 minute informal presentation on an interesting story from my own history or that of my family, and I've decided to do mine on my grandmother. She was born at the Ideal Maternity home in Nova Scotia, infamous for their poor treatment of babies and profiting from the sale of children to mostly American families. If the children were deemed 'unadoptable' they would starve them and bury them out back in these small boxes from a local dairy called butterboxes. There was a movie made about it in the 90s called Butterbox Babies. Really interesting, but sad, story. My grandmother and her brother were survivors, and she has since been reunited with her birth mother.

It's cold and snowy here. Supposed to get 10-15" through tomorrow morning. I'm lovin it! Now I just need to shake this cold so I can enjoy it!

Maybe over the weekend. I'd like to get out and skin for a few runs at an old closed ski area about an hour from here. Their location looks prime for getting the most from this storm. But it all depends how I'm feeling in a couple days. It was tough to drag myself into work and I'm feeling like a zombie.

holy shit.....I just...soon as I turned onto my road I got stuck in a drift....

dude pu;;ed me out with his truck....then I got stuck 10 feet away in a bigger snow drift....


....dude came back....pulled me out again.he plowed a path all the way to my house....

...I asked if he was a smoker and he said no....I told him i'd hire him to plow my lot next year if my t shirt printing company is a success....he said he owns a race team and goes through 500 shirts a year.....

we are now buddies....

he is my 5th closest neighbor but across the farm fields as opposed to on my road

needles to say I am home for the day

I was so lucky...house nearest had no one home....no shovel in sight.....I have horse shoes....thanks love....

I;m bundled up in many layers....gots to go gather wood enough for tonight .....I would never freeze.....would take a chainsaw to the porch first
