Well the Duvel was a bit of a mistake; to these taste buds it basically comes across like a deluxe super-lager. I'll be sticking to Weissbier (or maybe one or two of the less strong Belgian trappist brews) from now on.

One thing to keep in mind, I was taught while drinking beers barefoot in Brugges, is to make sure you have the correct glass for the beer. I also thought you should make sure you're barefoot in Brugges when sampling beers. Oh, and there is no staph in Belgium.

And shod or not, I am no lover of wheat beers.

Wheat beers are about my favourite! Mellow and cloudy and with a lovely Nachgeschmack, by-and-large. I usually switch it up between Weihenstephaner and Franziskaner Weiss. I lived in Munich for a short while back in the '90s, and one of my favourites there was Ayinger; haven't seen it being imported to this neck of the woods - yet. Never developed a taste for British ales (too sour or bitter tasting), bar milk stout.
