Well , me again , there is a lot of your help needed. Only 260k have signed up. Very low. Guess most folks see things my way. Yanno, legally , you are not insured until the first payment has been made. So, even this 260k number is questionable. The back end of the software is still f'd up. They seem to still experience difficulties with subsidies , billing etc. Want to help? Disable obycare ASAP. Return to a FREE market. Gubmint has the reverse midas touch. Whatever they touch turns to feces.

    You are assuming many things:

    First:
That all of the funds that healthy people pay into insurance goes to cover alcoholics and drug abusers. It doesn't.
    Second:
That early treatment of those diseases does not pay off in the long run.
    Third:
That there is no relation between alcoholism and drug abuse and factors such as genetic, psychological, social and environmental influences. Such as a wounded war vet who becomes dependent on pain suppression drugs.
    Fourth:
As stated above, alcoholism and drug abuse is not always a conscious choice, they are diseases that can and should be treated.

You are trying to blame the costs of the entire health care system on the irresponsible behavior of selected individuals. There is some merit to this as everyone would benefit if we all eat a proper balanced diet, exercised regularly, and avoided dangerous activities such as motorcycle and horseback riding.
And while some of my contributions do go to those who live irresponsibly, they also go to those who incur disease through no fault of their own, are injured in unforeseen accidents or in defense or service to their country or community, the new born and young who can't support themselves, the aged who have worked and contributed to the best of their ability for their entire adult life, and those who through no fault of their own are economically less well off than I am.

I have no problem morally supporting all of the above and the alcoholics and drug addicts who also are in need of understanding and help.

(You may be right about the aspirin, I take it because of my doctor's recommendation, but recent medical theory may be swinging away from that advice.)
