We have a similar cancer in the UK, (which also followed a basically neo-liberal path), our manufacturing base was hollowed out (to be replaced with often lower paid service jobs) the North and West of the country has suffered badly the South East still flourishes but that is mainly based on services (dominated by financial services) and a housing bubble. Its not the way to a sustainable economy.

 

Interesting that since the government closedown by the TP and the backing off of people like the Koch’s the number of posts by right wing libertarians seems to have declined.
