Yeah, because those winter soldiers have a strong track record....

Regardless, at least that have been. I can respect them for that even if I don't think they got it right.

I can imagine. That's why I said we can be glad the average person at home doesn't get to convict the soldier officially :p We all have opinions and associations that can make it hard to judge such a deed objectively. So it's good to have a set of rules and people to enforce them even though the rules have proven (also in this specific case) to lack in certain areas.

    Sig,

It's actually unjustified invasions, and the people who defend the resulting destruction of the invaded people's country, that some of us can't stomach!

We wouldn't know about it. I'm sure that goes on all of the time.

The point was about rules and conduct.
And you seem to think they can be ignored whenever a soldier/marine feels like it.

I do. I'm just not into killing people like dogs (who ever it happens to be)

And so does what this Marine was convicted of. In and of itself, it isn't illegal. The two biggest mistakes these Marines made was a) filming it and b) moving the fuck before shooting him. If they had just pumped a few more rounds into the bastard as they were walking up to him we wouldn't even be discussing this, even if it was caught on film.

No, I don't, and I never said anything of the sort.

It is more than that in your case I think, Odon. But it is irrelevant.

I think: Helping the Afghan army/government get rid of the Taliban and their affiliates...

Why would I tell you that?
What investments and interests are you talking about?
    Oil?
Yeah, well that seems to have worked out well.

    Sig

I'm sure it does. It doesn't make it right, though.
I think it was a helicopter gun ship that struck him down not those marines.
So, they went out to look for him, moved him, and then shot him dead.
    Very honourable behaviour there :/

    Judging from afar....

You haven't understood a damn thing I have posted then. There is a code among warriors, Odon. What these Marines did doesn't violate any code that I know of. Their honor is intact

Would the killed warrior have been aware of that quote? Does it still count if he wasn't?

They're not helping the Afghan army/goverment get rid of the Taliban.

They're there because Afghanistan is a major hub crossroads of pipelines for Central Asia, Russia, China and Iran. It also has some of the largest oil and natural gas reserves in the world. Plus they're also there because of the drugs that the CIA and MI6 use to fund their operations so they don't need to submit their budgets to public scrutiny.
