chows can be viscous little buggers...........and the hair all over will be a problem...if you plan on being a very attentive owner then go for it

how old are you?....dogs are a 12 yr minimum commitment....think about it.....that's well over 4000 walks.....4000 shits......12,000 pees......a hundred thousand slobbers and barks and whines..........10 pounds of hair shed.......4000 pounds of dog food.....4000 litres of water...countless baths and nail trimming.......thousand or so brushing sessions

    Don't forget the vet bills.

I have always gotten my pets from a shelter. I have always been happy with them and from what I can tell they were happy as well.

Often you can get a pure bred dog at a shelter. People do not understand the commitment when they take on a puppy and when it gets big or inconvenient they take it to a shelter. We live in a throw away society. Best to get a second hand dog.

I say go for it as long as you can be atentive. I have 3 dogs. german shepherd, Black Lab, An a lil ( dont know what he is). Big or small dogs, they need to be walked every day. We go to the pond every day for an hour or so an let them swim an just run around (chasing rabbits). Dogs become part of the family an thats how you ave to treat tem. But anayway, look on craigslist for a puppy or dog. There are always people needing to get rid of their dog fo some reason or another. An do some research on different breeds that will fit your life style.
