Truly, this day has found me surrounded by an amount of stupidity exceedingly greater than what one would otherwise expect. Irrelevancy and misappropriation abound in this remarkable triviality. Do you not yet realize that it is mentally unhealthy to wish another person well? To deign to do so is a social service, but to actually believe so is an intoxication of the highest order.
I think some of us (in this thread and in general) are more stoic, logical, and grounded while others are prone to lofty philosophy and ideals. Overall I think the latter is more likely to experience unhappiness throughout their life.

It's completely possible to ignore the mainstream and not even feel that pressure. Find yourself a great community, a great tribe, something to believe in, something you're passionate about, do those things, connect with those people...you'll have a hell of a hard time noticing what everyone else is expecting of you!
I grateful for my wonderful life. We're spending a few days in NYC and I can see now it's not enough. Walking around Brooklyn last night was so surreal
