Just wondering if anyone can assist me in finding an undetected keylogger that supports sending logs via ftp. So i can protect my family against intruders...

There are no undetectable keyloggers anymore - anyone who says there is and also claims to be the author of that keylogger is either lying or unaware of how good security has become at detecting them - theres one thats a right laugh called "undetectable keylogger" which is possibly the most detected of all keyloggers ever.

There is another technique though, that is undetectable and that is to run a process logger which will not tell you every keystroke they make but will tell you every program they open and every file the look at - and every website visited - also every supporting file called by the main program - but if you really want to protect em from intruders - get a firewall - a hardware firewall - then block all the incoming ports and put the firewall in stealth mode - also have it keep a log of all their activities and block the websites and other traffic to and from the computer that are against your rules

get a cisco, netgear or sonicwall and think about spending between $200 and $800 on it (you get what you pay for) thats £100 to £400

yeah, hardware firewalls are the best. you could also use an old PC laying around if you add a second Ethernet card. just download a Free/Opensource OS specifically made to be a hardware firewall. its free.

edit: i think there is one called SmoothWall. something like that.

I always tell people to buy one mainly because self builds on a computer are quite dificult and usually assumes quite a lot of knowledge. To be honest I think I've only managed once to get either smoothwall or IPCop working, the best self build I've done (Total overkill - I know) used suse enterprise edition. The major point being that if you buy a firewall prebuilt - it doesnt rely on hard-drives that can fail and a stupendous amount of knowledge about routing tables etc, basically plug n play and with the added bonus that most of em are linux based - My favourite firewall at the moment is a sonicwall TZ170
Its a fantastic bit of kit, but they are pretty expensive (you could buy an entire computer with 17" monitor and all the bells n whistles for what they cost, but I'd say very worth it

What I've always wanted to find are people who modify the firmware that goes with firewalls like netgear etc - I havent really investigated but it would be great if I could reverse engineer the stuff and see what tricks of the trade ppeople like cisco throw in

There is one way to get around the keylogger:
Click on Start -> Go to All Programs -> Click on Accessories -> Select Accessibility ->Click on On-Screen Keyboard
Executing the above steps opens a keyboard on the screen so that the user can click whatever letter he/she would like to type. Since a keylogger does not track where and what the user clicks, this helps to get around it in times of urgency. Typing with the onscreen keylogger is a great hassle. The only alternative is to eradicate the keylogger program from the computer completely.
