Weds night late. Been back home a while. Mary Jo greeted me with great fresh hot chili and 3 Pacificos in a row. Ranger is wiped from the last two days. Went to sleep hours ago. Like 7:00 p.m. For him, the first day was 5:00 a.m. till mid-night and then he still couldn't get to sleep. I was still awake a 5.00 a.m. spinning like a top on my sleeping bag.

Good News. They kicked Rita's ass out of the I.C.U. today at about 5:00 p.m. Only a day and a half later. She's in a regular room and eating. Tues she was able to talk but like every third or fourth sentence she couldn't think and get a word out and would say a rhyming word instead. Today she was doing surprisingly better. 6 or a dozen sentences and then a mess-up. Markedly better. Physically she's surprisingly good. Folk and spoon coordination both hands. Stronger grip. Still it's going to be a while. Much therapy ahead living in a therapy center. But she should be far quicker than most people.

One daughter is there and another to come Thurs afternoon or later. Hopefully THEY will drive Ranger back and forth 30 miles each way. 60 round trip and 60. Go and get him 30. Take him to the Hospital 30. Take him back home 30. And go back to their motel room near the hospital, their own selves, 30. 120 miles each day. All on their gas money and all on their time. A lot to ask. Especially if you don't know him from Jack. But, I'm hoping. But we shall see. Or maybe he won't see Rita. They are only around till Sunday and Tuesday. Then no ride anywhere ever, at all. Oh, well.

A social worker took down all of their information on a form and there may be some help to come. We shall see. Till then he's in a small trailer with nothing. Tonight's Cheese burger, old cooked chicken breasts for tomorrow. And nothing. But the cats do have food. I tried to get some groceries and go shopping for him. No. Just get me a burger and go home. I'm tried. Gave him an hundred for his pocket. But if ya can't get anywhere.
And he can't get anywhere. I worry. A lot.

I was thinking that if Sag was really going to move to there, I could wire him some travel and gas money. But he's off line now. Ranger says that Sag even cooks. Ranger doesn't. It's Just an idea. Oh well.

Now I sleep.

Thanks Kenny for letting us know that Rita is improving tremendously. What a relief.
Now we need to do something to make sure Ranger gets food...Maybe one of Rita's girls will do some shopping for him.

First off, thanks for the prayer, well wishes etc ya'll. Rita seems better this am, she just called and was able to carry on a strong coherent conversation for a short time before tiring. She is still got a ways to go with her right side. Again thanks ya'll. :love:

Mary. You know that Mark comes and goes. Sometime we don't see him for a week.

He'll pop in when he wants to.

And I wouldn't expect him to drop everything and to do anything just because I might think that something might be a good idea. After all, he has his own things going on. and has his own life.

If he does want to bail out and to go there, I can send him travel money. That can happen. Ranger's place ain't great. But it is a place. And there's a mini van versus a Subaru. So, whatever.

Mary Jo sent my phone number via her e-mail account. I hear when I hear. That's ok.

 

Ranger just called me. He is way beat. He's going back to sleep.

 

Well my brother is moving back from Tennessee this weekend or next, so if we do lose our mother we will at least be able to keep the house. I will be damned if I let a stranger take the house my mother made into a loving home for the past 18 years. After the poetry contest I am going to try to work it into a book of poetry. I am looking at different publishers right now. I am also looking at other contests which the prize is publication and a thousand dollars. One of them also comes with 25 copies of the book for personal distribution. Runner up gets 25 copies as well. Feeling a bit pretentious due to the fact that they said it couldn't have been previously published anywhere, and whether or not they count sending it in a private message for friends to read counts as publications, since they count it as publication if its posted on a thread. I wish our state would pass medical marijuana, then we could get my mom well. So far we are treating her with alkaline water which we get here for .25 cents a gallon, but it may be too late for it to work. Also I have annointed her and the doorway in her room. We are hoping faith might be able to heal her. A country western song...I would like that but I wouldn't. If its a hit then people might bother me too much, and I get bashful. I feel people put celebrities on higher pedestals than normal people. I like to talk to people, but I like to talk on the same level, and am afraid they might put me on the level as some sort of literary or lyrical god, when the truth is I am just a simple man, and I put my pants on one leg at a time, just like everyone else.

I just now talked with Rita on the phone in the hospital, after talking with Ranger in the trailer. She sounds great. No messing up her words. She is in a regular hospital room, not the I.C.U., and the doctors are throwing her out, tomorrow. They'll transport her to a Therapy, rehabilitation, convalescence place, tomorrow.

Doc. tells her two weeks to four weeks there.

Two of her daughters are in the room with her right now.

 

Wow, Hillbilly. Good to hear that you guys can keep the house. That's great news.

If you figure that medical M can keep her alive, then why not just put her in a car and drive her to Colorado? It's totally legal there and you don't need to get a medical Card, first. But somehow I don't feel that that is going to work.
