No offense, but I still think it's funny how some of the people here think that showing their barefeet is something that's daring. They act like they are women going topless or something. LOL

Some places it is because some people treat going barefoot with as much disgust and hatred as going topfree, sure its not gonna ever throw you in jail for going barefoot but the way some people react you almost think it will.

I don't act like that. I just like going barefoot. It would be a nonissue, but for all the ignorant shitpiles who think they're justified in trying to prohibit me from being barefoot.

society keeps our chest so oversexualized that our ability to feel as free as other women in the world is taken away from us. lets gather female group of protesters with their chests bared as we take to the streets.

I once had a dream in which I knew somehow that there had been a major court decision or legislation that made very clear, far and wide, that no one could be prohibited from being naked in public, or anywhere!

So in the dream, I decided to be one of the first to exercise this newly-recognized freedom, and so I went out to the movies totally naked! I remember feeling very self-conscious as I walked in through the lobby, but I also had confidence from the knowledge that no one could legally challenge me for it. It was a pretty cool dream to wake up and remember! :D

That's funny. I had the same dream that nudity was legalized. I dreamt I went to the supermarket nude thinking that at least a few others would be there nude, but they weren't. I felt shy as hell. But, no one said anything.

You say its not shocking... try getting thrown out of pubs, bars and restraunts for not wearing shoe.... EVEN SHOPS. ... try sitting on a train and having people go "oh my... where are your shoes young lady?" try being ANYWHERE in the city without shoes on and not have people look down on you, or have comments like "CANT YOU AFFORD SHOES" thrown at you. Then tell me its a socially acceptable thing that is not worth making a fus over.. hell you cant even go into harrods in london if you have your BELLY showing.. i dread to think what theyd do if i was barefoot (not that id want to go in there anyway :S)

I know exactly what you mean, Fleassy, having had the same experiences, and endured the same degree of derision and having people really treat you liek you are a second rate person or a criminal. Its funny that you can have 15 colors in your hair, be severely pierced and tattooed and you're pretty accepted (as if that happened years ago!) yet I can walk into a nice restaurant or a posh shop in a 3 piece suit and tie and barefoot and I'd get crapped on! It's so punk rock though, I love it! If I'm ever in your parts Fleassy, I'd love to get all dressed up like we were disgustingly rich dignitaries or something and walk in barefoot just to give them the finger!

    ...and Fleassy is hot too.

I wonder if a shoe store would ask you to leave if you came in barefoot.

I've been in a shoe store barefoot a couple times. Four or five years ago -can't remember which- it was a pretty cold winter and I wore my india slippers several times. The strap broke, so I needed new slippers... of course there were no india slippers or flipflops in the stores in that time of the year -normal, flat & thin flipflops are rare here anyhow, even in summer lots of those you see have a mega-thick sole, shaped foot bed, or are heavily decorated. So I tried on some sandals. Left without finding anything, even the widest pair they had, still had a shaped foot bed, and my little toe sat on the raised edge instead of in it. The sales person tried to tell me that was a 'normal fit' and no doubt he was right... it certainly is true most people, women especially but even men, normally put their feet in footwear that is a bit more narrow than their feet are... that's how come most non-barefooters have those 'shoe-shaped' feet with their toes all pinched together... but I wasn't having none of that :p

And I bought leg warmers at a hosery specialty store last winter... inventory was almost all socks, a few slips & those leggings I was after in lotsa colors... that did feel a little funny, standing there barefoot in plain sight chosing colors of one of the very few items that *didn't* cover the foot! :)

Down here barefoot isn't really noticed by Folks.

However there are times/places where Common Sense dictates footware...

Why wasted our Time repeating things which are plain old fashioned Common Sense of which you don't agree???

    Nuff said. Troll on...

Dude, I'm not the troll here. I'm not the one starting threads that rehash old shit we've been over a thousand times. I'm not the one starting threads that bitch about people engaging in a person, harmless choice.

YOU, however, made an assertion, to wit: "However there are times/places where Common Sense dictates footware..."

Now, if you're not gonna back it up by at least giving us some examples that you believe fit your claim, then it's just that -- a claim.

I'll grant that when the temperature is above 100 F. and the pavement around town is staggeringly hot, I'll wear flip-flops out of necessity. And if I had no choice but to traverse a parking lot filled with ground glass slivers, I'd wear them then, too. And if I were going snowboarding, DUH, I'll wear snowboard boots in order to stay in the bindings.

But I suspect that you have in mind things like restaurants, doctors' offices, church, and a load of other places where "common sense" really does not dictate shoes' necessity.
