Ask Harper... Prorogation and the right to know ******************************* Prorogation and snap elections avoid government accountability in many unreported ways, and so should be prohibited unless specific conditions are met. Beyond the investigation into how Canadian Forces oversaw the transfer and treatment of detainees in the Afghanistan war, there are three other important government accountability situations not mentioned in any media coverage so far that the federal Conservatives are avoiding through the arbitrary proroguing of Parliament by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, all of which would likely have been reported on in February. continued through link ******************************* http://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorialopinion/article/751487--prorogation-and-the-right-to-know
all governments are dictatorships. doesnt matter if its one dude, or a parliment or senate or monarchy or committee making the rules. rules are dictating. democracy is me having to live my life a certain way just cuz i'm outnumbered. thats a dictatorship
In order to change a democracy to a dictatorship, you must be definition move the power from the people to government institutions to the point where the switch is more subtle. How to move the power? Easy. Take away people's freedom and personal property through taxation and federal debt. Increase their dependence on government through welfare programs. Increase regulatory burden until nationalization is possible, one industry at a time. History has taught us one thing... allowing the government to centralize power (economic, regulatory, social programs) is the ONLY path to tyranny. So the only cure is to prevent the centralization of power.
