It appears the Syrian rebels have captured one of Assad's biggest chemical weapons factories at Al Safira, outside Aleppo, Syria's largest city. The complex is listed as a "chlorine factory", just a euphemism for WMDs. The factory also maintains Scud missiles which may already have sarin or other deadly chemicals loaded in the warheads. In response to this capture, Assad has threatened to use chemical weapons on the rebels. Can you imagine if this occurs, how it would play out? Think about it. The US now has 17 warships off the Syrian coast, with a Russian fleet facing it, ready to defend Syria or rescue Russians. The US ships have all the latest gear to defend themselves and Israel from missile attack. Meanwhile the Dutch and Germans are moving Patriots to defend Turkey. In addition to the US armada in the Med facing Syria, the French and British have also deployed many warships. There are US bases located very, very close to Syria in Turkey and now Jordan. In fact, there are so many assets facing Syria, there's only one aircraft carrier group remaing off the coast of Iran (until recently there were three). The US has already threatened to intervene should chemical weapons come into play... Not a great scenario heading into the "Mayan Apocalypse" of Dec 21st... http://www.debka.com/article/22596/Assad%E2%80%99s-last-warning-to-rebels-before-using-chemical-weapons-West-Israel-on-high-preparedness
The ancient tradition that the world will be consumed in fire at the end of six thousand years is true, as I have heard from Hell. The whole creation will be consumed and appear infinite and holy whereas it now appears finite, and corrupt. This will come to pass by an improvement of sensual enjoyment. If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is- infinite..
I think the us "interest" here is probably israel related syria frequently, secretly, and violently meddles with lebanon. hezbola in turn launches rocket attacks on israel. I'm unsure off hand what relationship, if any, there is between hezbola and syria though, but I'm sure syrian involvement isn't helping any then there's that whole golan heights thing. also that syria seems to be pretty buddy-buddy with iran hope fucking ww3 doesn't break out. that would suck
UPDATE: It appears the battle over this chemical factory is still ongoing, with Assad's forces taking it back on Sunday after attacking it by air and with artillery. The rebels are surrounding the factory, and only need to sever the main road to retake the facility. If they do retake the factory, WMD may fall into the hands of Al-Qaeda "terrorists". At least that is the what the Israelis are hyping...
This whole story is probably bullshit propaganda to get the rest of the world to back an invasion. Sounds like classic fear mongering to me. I don't see that this has anything to with 2012.

"You are talking to a leftist. I believe in the redistribution of wealth and power in the world. I believe in universal hospital care for everyone. I believe that we should not have a single homeless person in the richest country in the world. And I believe that we should not have a C.I.A. that goes around overwhelming governments and assassinating political leaders, working for tight oligarchies around the world to protect the tight oligarchy here at home." Abbie Hoffman
Nearly everything America said about Iraq, Iran, and Libya is not true. Why should we believe America today? The US Army paid newspapers in Iraq to print positive things about the US Army.
Looking back at the original post here, it would seem possible that the rebels might've gotten their hands on some chemical agents, which is what the Assad regime accuses the rebels of using on - THEIR OWN PEOPLE? Assad has yet to show any dead or injured soldiers from a chemical attack. Meanwhile there are hundreds of civilians dead from poison gas, many were children, all in rebel territory with Assads forces continuing to attack and destroy any evidence of what happened. Let's see what the UN forensics team has to say about the attack, if there is enough evidence left... Apparently there is sufficient evidence from multiple sources to assign blame to Assad's forces.
Skip, check out what Russia Today (RT.com) has to say about this. The news about the big bio-chemical attack was published one day before the attack took place, according to the Russian?
RT strikes me as russian propaganda. It may sometimes reveal the flaws in american propaganda, but it's still propaganda.
Better than trying to read Pravda! Anyway my understanding is that Assad was desperate to clear out that group of Rebels who had been attacking downtown Damascus. He'd been trying for months and getting nowhere. Since Obama never reacted to the previous use of chemical weapons, he felt the US was bluffing. He also need a morale booster for his troops that were stuck fighting and not winning after two years. So he used chemical agents on his own people! The US claims it intercepted electronic communications that prove Assad's army used chemical warfare. Hopefully it will be more solid than what Colin Powell presented the UN before the US invaded Iraq... This time they won't bother to go that route since Russia and China will veto anything against Assad.
There is no proof Assad used the chemical weapon. That's just more US government lies to justify attacking a country they have been wanting to control for years.
Just thought Id squeeze that in there like the news did.. story 1.Syria, story 2. Dzhokhar. story 3.Syria.. yeah connected cause the media tells me so..
