When I was diagnosed with lung cancer I was considered a surgical case. We were to do a full round of chemo and mass radiation and then they were going to remove my right lung and life was going to just go on. My tumor imploded inward so removal of the lung was not possible. Six months later I was confirmed as having new growth and back in chemo. Went through a period of feeling no hope and drinking is a great way to dull that. For about 6 months it fit in with that period of hopelessness. Until I saw what it was doing to me and my kids. Alcohol suppresses respiratory function. Living with something chronic is difficult to say the least but don't let anything else take away the life you can have. I have not ever shared this on this board because it was a time when I was so far down emotionally that I was a mess. Not preaching, just sharing. That was five years ago for me and life is better. Not how I planned it but then again it is still a good place to be. I hope your health improves and I hope you then pick up your studies where you left off and finish them. I wish you all the best. When life hands you crap in the bucket, empty the bucket and start clean.
Thank you as a hug makes the world go around. I think we need to send massive group hugs to Arlandis!!
I think I had a slight alcohol withdrawal from the my week at the beach.. once I returned home lol. Let me just say.. pot helps :sifone:
Started over 6 years ago and while terminal I have lived 5 years longer than predicted. I expect to be around for a lot longer and each day shows I am. Life is pretty good. Glad I did not bet money on their horse.
Try to just chill out and stay calm... Unless its so bad that you think you're gonna die lol, in that case you should go to the hospital. I get moderate withdrawal symptoms when I stop drinking... shakiness, nausea, anxiety, lack of coordination, nightmares if I try to sleep, a horrible sense of fear and dread, sweating, pounding heart... its not fun at all but its not life-threatening either. Just try to do something to keep your mind off it. Its impossible to sleep through so I lay in bed with the A/C on, watch movies and cuddle with my boyfriend. Don't try to eat anything it wont work. Oh, and drink lots of water. Or... you could do what that other guy said and find a household product that contains alcohol. Listerine, hand sanitizer, vanilla extract, cooking sherry, all work... I've done them all and I'm still alive In the future try to save some "wake-up" alcohol that's enough to get you well so you dont have this problem in the future. Thats the best advice I can give anyone on the subject. Best of luck, alcoholism is a fucking bitch.
I'm Not Going To Make Judgement On You Arli, But I'm Really Concerned As To Why You Are Hitting It So Hard, I Gather It Has Something To Do With Your Current Medical Issues, But Surely Alcohol Will Only Make Things Worse For You... I Hope You Don't Get Offended By This Post, But I Really Do Care For You.... Cheers Glen.
I like it when people talk about hangovers and alcohol withdrawl and stuff... because it reminds me of why I'm glad I don't drink anymore.
