There's this one street in my neighborhood where I always see at least one person outside barefoot. In the past week or so as I drove down this street, I saw a young dad playing with his infant daughter in his front yard and they were both barefoot. This past weekend, I saw a teenage boy getting into a car with a female companion and he was barefoot (they must have been going to the beach). Finally, I saw a guy who had just parked his truck get out and he was barefoot. I looked in my rear view mirror and he was walking across the street, probably to his house.
Saw a young couple in Arby's today, both barefoot. They both had delightfully dirty soles and had obviously been barefooting for some time.
Last week, we took my boss out to a buffet for her birthday. Every time I returned to our table, I noticed she had a least one shoe slipped off. I was very proud when, about half way through the meal, she started walking the restaurant barefoot. She even left her shoes under the table to go socialize with a friend she recognized.
I spotted more barefoot people in my neighborhood last week. On my street, there was a boy about 10-11 years old playing on the sidewalk in front of his house and he was barefoot. Around the corner on another street, there was a guy who looked to be in his late 40s in front of his house talking to a gardener. The guy (homeowner) was barefoot and walked around as the gardener was showing him what was done in the yard.
Was with 2 friends on our way to the comedy club in Long Beach CA, VIP section thus dressed nicely button up jeans shoes etc. Walked to nearby restaurant Chilis and passing by a classier $30 per plate restaurant I notice a family of 8 standing outside, finished their meal and saying goodbyes. Included was a 22 yr old looking male, clean cut, nicely dressed (for Southern California on a 100 degree day) stylish t shirt, trendy shorts, barefeet, no bag and no shoes. He had an anklet on as well, with black soles. I assumed he was a full time barefooter. Appeared his family was just fine with it. Good for him. It was a real treat to see that.
Went to the Los Angeles County Fair today, only saw 2 seperate barefoot people, both men in their 20's, no footwear in sight, soles black as paint.
Iv'e Seen Them Everywhere, Tis The First Month Of Spring Here In Horsetralia, And Flip Flops And Barefeet Are The Norm...:sunny:. Cheers Glen.
Saw a middle aged woman come out of a McDonald's with no shoes in sight. Don't see many barefooters where I am despite our warm climate.
Thats Awesome! McDonalds to me are bigger shoe natzi's for me then Wal-Mart...eventhough Wal-Mart have gotten better for me recently
Saw my neighbour's daughter (abt 22y/o) come from her car in barefeet / assumed she was driving as such!
Spotted another today. Upon exiting the AMC theatre at Downtown Disney in California I saw a 19 yo male emo type all black skinny jeans. Barefeet, no bag or shoes. Soles matched his outfit. Been seeing more barefooters in September then the entire previous 8 months
So many barefoot people around Sydney in the last few months Ive lost count. Each time Ive visited the supermarket Ive seen at least one or two people barefoot, usually guys but a fair number of girls too. It's just an accepted way to go out here. Also not uncommon to see barefoot people at shopping malls and even in the high street. Sounds crazy to say this but I dont get quite the rush going bf here that I used to get in the UK, I guess because it felt much more conspicuous and 'out of place' in the UK and that was part of the attraction I've now realised. Strange eh. But for anyone wanting complete barefoot freedom, Australia is the way to go!
Saw my first ever shopping store barefooter in a crowded Costco yesterday. Unfortunately it was grouchy looking old coot. A pretty girl with cute feet would have been much more visually appealing. But ah well, good for him. I was too chicken and had on flip flops.
I go barefoot at home, but I wouldn't do it going out and about, not so much because of social constraints, although I would worry about looking like a bit of a bum, but simply because shoes are more comfortable and you don't get dirty feet, who knows what sort of germs you will pick up on the sidewalk. And also theres the worry of stepping on broken glass or something sharp. Also barefoot makes the skin on your feet dry and cracked, and although when I was a kid we went barefoot all the time just about it was a hassle to have to scrub your feet with a nail brush and soap to get them clean before bed. A lot of people in India might go barefoot and therefore seem spiritual but it's only because they can't afford shoes. And for people who are going to India and are thinking of going barefoot, just be aware there is a certain worm there which enters the body through the soles of the feet and then travels all around the body.
......well, er that's great, glad you could contribute...and not that I was going to India anytime soon but gee thanks for the worm advice....I think
