When females are going through menopause or have gone thru it & they no longer get periods, at what stage do their male partners not need to use condoms / birth control anymore again to avoid getting their partner pregnant ?
I believe it is a full year of no periods before menopause is final. Be careful, I know a few people whose parents were old enough to be their grandparents. And one of those people has Downs Syndrome.
As daisy has said, it's about a year period free before a woman can say she is menopausal. But don't assume it's definate after the year as periods can become irregular beforehand and unless you want to run the risk of an unplanned pregnancy make sure she sees her doctor to have bloods done. This will confirm if she is menopausal or pre menopausal where its still possible to menstruate.
My wife thinks its 2 years of no periods. I would prefer not to use a condom - feels a darn sight better.
