Im talking about when they are looking for something, they settle for the first piece of crap they find INSTEAD OF PUTTING SOME EFFORT INTO IT AND FINDING WHAT THEY REALLY WANT!

One example: Having a GOOD INTERNET RADIO and having to get a new one cause it failed BUT THEY DONT SELL THE ONE YOU HAVE ANYMORE and are given a replacement for it... WHICH IS WORSE THAN WHAT YOU HAD!! (And accepting it)

Thats BS and an easy way out.... YOU DO A SEARCH ONLINE AND SEE IF YOU CAN FIND WHAT YOU HAD.... YOU DONT JUST ACCEPT TRASH W/O TRYING FIRST TO GET BETTER!!

Sometimes you gotta fight for what you want in this shit world..... JUST SITTING BACK AND ACCEPTING WHATEVER IS PATHETIC AND SHOWS YOU HAVE NO DESIRE FOR ANYTHING.....

How are you guys on these things?? Do you accept trash when buying stuff, etc or do you SPEND AS MUCH TIME AS NEEDED to try and find/get what you really want?

I don't go to the store or anything. I pretty much find what I want and then google it for days finding reviews and comparisons. I tend to Internet shop. It's a lot cheaper and less complicated and you're not paying some asshole commission.

I online compare any major purchase for quality, price and service. If I get a reasonable deal locally I'll buy local. If not I'll buy on line.

I haven't encountered the problems Dude111 talks about perhaps because I don't really buy a lot of stuff. In this rural area shopping gets complex quick though

ive never bought online......i just bought a laptop at a store...my comparison shopping consisted of me checking 3 different stores the morning that i wanted a laptop and then i drove to where 2 of the stores were side by side....i went into one and got a quote and then i went into the other and bought a laptop ....even if i find out i coulda went elsewhere and saved 50 or bought online and waited a week.....it is not significant enough to give a shit

and i dont think peoiple that get commission are assholes....why would you even call a hard working dude in a store an asshole?....i totally dont mind that buddy did a great job of convincing me to buy from him...that is what i expetedd him to do

i dont get the internet radio reference....isnt internet radio free?

i don't really KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT WITH YOUR OVERLY EXCITED INTERNET RADIO EXAMPLE!!!

i'll be MORE LIKELY TO ACCEPT THE FIRST THING I COME ACROSS IF IT'S SOMETHING SMALL AND UNIMPORTANT. if it's a major purchase, I'LL SPEND MORE TIME SHOPPING AROUND.

Well I guess you wouldnt since I didnt explain it....

Last year My Grace internet radio malfunctioned and I couldnt get it reset.. I went looking for a replacement.... I came to discover THEY DONT MAKE MY MODEL ANYMORE....... We took my radio to where we got it and they gave me a replacement......

It wasnt a replacement... (A LOGITECH SQUEEZEBOX) IT WAS A PIECE OF FUCKA GARBAGE COMPARED TO MY GRACE RADIO!!!!!! -- Harder to program it,cant add your own streams (as easily anyway) harder to find streams,etc.......... (Come to find out MANY PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE THIS RADIO!!)

I got rid of that and finally was able to find a new IR-1000 (A basic radio -- THE BEST INTERNET RADIO OUT THERE IN MY OPINION) -- Its a shame its not made anymore....

Heres what it looks like (2 available for sale now)

I see only people with little amount of money or time resort to those practices. And then indeed mainly with things they do not find so important. Perhaps most people do not care so much about an internetradio as you do? The majority takes the effort of looking for what they want instead of picking the first thing they find like you seem to imply. In the 80's of the former millenium on the other hand... jk :D

Yeah, I never had one either. I never listen to any kind of radio just to my own selection of tunes. I must have brainwashed myself? :p

for example, paying ten thousand dollars for a 09 kia sephia. that car feels like it is made out of the cheapest fucking nondescript plastics.

fuck that for ten thousand dollars you can get a REAL CLASSIC or if you want efficiency and longevity, buy a 4 banger plymouth valiant or ford falcon and pay someone to rebuild it completely for ya.. all about the same price..

I thought so, yes. But the OP seems to have an aversion against digital stuff that's compatible with other digital stuff and so has a bigger program manual than his original device that could most likely just do one thing and did that well. It is understandable but does not makes his original statement in this thread about people in the 80's and now valid in any way.

I think OP is guilty of being one of those people that he is ranting about. look at this paperweight.

Thing is, some people do not want more stuff on the same device. Especially if it involves some kind of programming like an alarmclock or something. They just want what they had earlier. I'm not sure that could automatically be blamed on saying they don't have a desire for improvement or something like that.

I'm just saying my proposed setup could cost 1/4th of the op's. those devices boast having asstons of features anyway. The only thing I could think of is that the radio device actually has a wired LAN port, which would be cool in a bomb shelter or other wifi-free zone, but substitute the smartphone for an old XP laptop for maybe even cheaper and there ya go.
