I did not have a computer while growing up, so my first experience with an online music player was iTunes.
When I was growing up the computers filled whole floors of buildings . My first computer was a zx81 , the first one that could run a player was a 386 ( mid 90s )
I remember when Napster was the "Shit". And and after downloading a song, you had to listen to it on Windows Media player- with it's funky lines it showed instead of video.
My first file sharing site was lime wire . If you log on to lime wire's site now you get a this warring that your i.p. address has been recorded and show up again and they will come looking for you . p.s. I do remember using the apple quick time player over the windows player .
I got a used 386 ( mid 90s ) added a cd rw drive a sound card and a new video card . Next was a 486 , I have been playing with them ever scinse . Making hard ware and soft ware work togher back then was a pain .
Dont think there was ever a time when I had to rely on WMP PS1 came out in 95/96, played my CDs on that once I got one, before that PCs where shit, used to use a CD player Havent had a home computer that was Windows since Red Hat 3, which was around the same time '96
