Hello there happy fellows.. I am Nick and i plan to go live in the wilderness in south america and basicaly camp and get out of babylone for good . If you want to join me in this adventure or if you know about such things or communes going on there , feel free to post about it. Keep read the posts here or in the camps sections for updates. My email is amazonas@lavabit.com but it may change over time. Those who are serious about living in south america in the wilderness should meet with me in ecuador where we will all share an appartment. If you have little funds to share for the rent we will find a way to support you so nobody who is serious is turned over for lack of funds because after all the goal is to get into the wilderness and camp there a little bit in the way that the indigenous peoples are doing with basicaly no much ressource except the rich ressources of mother nature. It will be a starting point and even maybe a more than temporary point to see the different options there. If somebody know about established communes , have friends , or familly , or events going on , that may be even better... You just need to bring your camping gear and be ready to get into the wilderness for good and depend upun the community and mother nature for ressources. Possibly i will bring a lot of gemstones so we sell , share and survive there in ecuador until we found we want to do and perhaps we might even keep a foot in the cities if we do good but and go more gradually into the wilderness but i guess ultimatly the wilderness is the place to be. Post here if your interested and we will meet there. Once in the wilderness we might get some animals for the milk and eggs and do some agriculture or harvest wild edibles . Most of the time will be free , perhaps to be , think or do things to become better. Don t worry about the womens.. usually more mens are in for that type of things.. We will find them over there and we won't stop searching until every man have a women. Peace to all amazonas@lavabit.com Nick :sunny:
I was thinking about starting a farm in South America years ago. I remember when you could get a 100 acre parcel of land for $5000 in Paraguay and I was checking out land prices in several South American countries recently and much of the land is going for $5000 more or less per acre. I know that there are many challenges there that we don't have in Canada such as poisonous spiders, snakes and other critters as well as political instability and high crime in many of those countries. Many Canadian Mennonites left for South America and Mexico years ago when German-language schools were made illegal by the Canadian government but some have been coming back in recent years, mainly the ones in Bolivia. South America does has many advantages over Canada's Northern climate. Long growing season, much rain, hot tropical weather where many fruits will grow, etc. Best of luck to you and keep posting here as it would be interesting to hear how your commune works out.
Hello dear Baron and thank you for your good wishes. First we do not need to buy a land, there is alot of nature everywhere where we can camp an you can view a community as a group of people with or without a land. A land would be great and it is much cheaper than you say. Some of the price have gone up but i still found 300 $- 700$ an acre wich is cheaper than up North. I saw a square mile for about 20 000$ in bolivia. But what i am talking about i mainly about staying in the wilderness. Sure there is some critters like snakes and spiders but with basic clothing you can be safe from them. I went in the tropics and i used to walk barefoot in the jungle even at night as locals and indigenous often do. Simply by having some rubber boots or some large clothing or some leather protection on the pants is enought to be bite proof. Criminality might be a concern for peoples who show wealth or who are alone but really as a group there is no problem and until you speak nobody knows your a foreigner necessary. I think the political instability and criminality is rather growing up north. I think it will be harder in the north. In the north there is bears in the wilderness, deadly cold in the winter, and you have to work hard in the summer to be ready for the winter and what if in the future your are not even aloud to heat with logs or even aloud to live in the countryside ? What if some chaos comes and peoples turn nuts ? Down there in south america i think people can easier live without electricity and apparently they are major food exporters so it should not lack. The wilderness is a food supermarket if you know how to decode it. Deep in the wilderness the end of the world might come and we may never know or feel it! Of course we have to do some sacrifices but its for the good. I hope am wrong concerning what i said about the north and i wish you good luck too. I just can't cope with the deadly cold anymore :sunny:
I'm moving to Panama soon, and hope to be living off the land within a year or two of being there. I will hopefully have a few chickens, maybe a goat, and some bees.... will be great!
Hello Vincent , good luck for your quest in Panama ! .. you are very funny ! You seem to like to disguise as a goat ! But why do you want to go to panama ? I had a friend who had a hudge land next to the ocean in panama. He told me i could go there and stay there and build a community. The only problem is that there is no other way than to go with a costly 400$ boat to get there and he would sure sell it once a road comes nearby. What are you gonna do in panama ?
I'm one of those strange people who thinks being just plain human is boring! I like to view myself as half man-half goat (google: Satyr/Faun) I'm moving to Panama because a couple friends of mine (who still live in the US, and I live with them here) already own a house there. They are making a move to Panama, and intend to live the rest of their lives there. They have offered to take me with them, let me run a few businesses (Mead, honey, candles, cheese, crafts) with their help, and eventually give me some land. So, why not? Yes, traveling to Panama can be hard, the plane tickets we will be buying are $800, not to mention the cost of shipping all our stuff via boat, and then costs of traveling up country to the house. I intend to be a hermit for a while, build up skills of gardening, animal husbandry, and then invite some friends once I have the land for it.
