A week ago I left my job as clothing production manager at an artists production studio. http://www.christyfisher.com/ The artist and I have been going round and round about what was causing me to feel weird. She said I was menopausal and I only liked my co-worker because she was a pirate. I thought it was the flux paste.

Last thursday I blacked out at my machine. She had been soldering jewelry for 30 min with out the exhaust fan on. She had agreed to turn it on but decided we were making it up and to test and see if we were faking it....I was so tired but trying to get our order to a point the other girls could finish if I left (they went out to get air). But as I was sewing the edges of my periphery vision went dim like those stage sets where all is dark but the scene being illuminated and the sewing machine light made the table all cozy and I just wanted to slip away into the blackness and go to sleep. It was black for only a split sec and my adrenaline kicked in with a real fine fight or flight response. I came to saw the light and only thought "I gotta get outta here!" then I gotta get outta here right now!!!" hahaa it was great! I grabbed my bags signed out yelled about some bs on the sidewalk got in my truck and raced home where I promply slept for 3 hours.

My stomache has been ill and I've been sleepy for 8 days now...

What I am saying is my employer was using a flux past labeled as non toxic because it did not contain the usual suspects like zinc chloride. What it did contain was even worse but because it was not tested it is assumed non toxic until proven otherwise.

I am a single mom and needed that income and have nothing to gain by inventing imaginary illnesses. But my boss believed the label and not me. Labels don't lie right?

So mebbe I am menopausal and I am very angry and would like to direct this constructively. I do not believe it is ok to deceive people for profits. How do they keep getting away with this? How can they be stopped???

And how do I help the girls that still work in her studio?

Science and technology can be a big spoiled brat. Mama's gonna get her belt.
    Thank you and good night.

Wait, she turned off the exhaust fan while you were soldering?

I don't know what's making you sick, but too much exposure to certain inhaled metals can make you sick, so it's better to be cautious. To purposefully turn off an exhaust fan to test the effects on welders is something a super-villain would do, even if the metals are generally recognized as safe.

You should immediately contact OSHA. If there's nothing to worry about, that's what an inquiry would show, so no harm there. If there is a concern, OSHA might not do anything, but raising the alarm is probably the best move.

She left the fan off when she was soldering. We did'nt know it until we started to feel weird.

Been researching monoethaolamine HcL and it is old and very toxic but the way they are combining it lets them label it as non toxic. It is everywhere. Makeup dryer sheets room spray...
