I can believe they said it.

I don't think they will show up.

At the last several big events Westboro Baptist Cult claimed they would attend, they never showed their faces.

They are nothing but a handful of cowardly baffoons.

In addition to the Westboro Baptist Church, the alternative explanation people will be here soon contending that the damage to the bodies is not consistent with fire and that the federal government or a flying saucer was involved.

(the fires weren't really that hot; the shelter fabric was coated with nano-thermite)

I'm wearing my Negrito Helitack t-shirt today in remembrance of my comrades.

The pentagon is sending three C-130 planes to help put out the fire, always a day late.

The incident commander made bad decisions, by not paying attention to the wind shifts, and not making sure the team had a safe escape route in that eventuality. There should have been an escape to the "black", that's where the fire had already burned.

The team did deploy their fire shelters, which was another bad decision, as it turns out. I'm not sure how deep the the fire line was, but it might have been wiser to wrap themselves in their shelters and run through the fire to the black. They probably would have sustained burns, but might have lived. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

I find it peculiar that my thread was first moved from the "people" section, and now turned into DESERT RATS thread. I guess my place is at the back of the bus.

Yes, RJ, he may have. Still, you must keep in mind that it is too easy to sit here and second guess the incident commander's decisions, as well as that of the team's as a whole. We weren't there, on the ground, after all. There may have been factors at play that we are not aware of.

On the fire fighters death , if a u.f.o. was involved , the t.v. people are all over this part of Arizona , they would have live video . Did they make bad decisons ? Maby , they will figure this out , so it does not happen again . They were taken to the Maricopa co. hospital to be examened , if any thing other than fire killed them they will state that .

His thread came first, and it is in the 'Latest news' section - possibly a more appropriate place for it to be.

This story really shocked me. So many lost. RIP

I heard that they used or had the fire shelters too. On the news last night someone said that if you put them on too early you could suffocate but if you wait too long you could the gasses from the fire could get you. I don't know if that is true.

    It is just so sad.

It was reported yesterday that the lone survivor was left at the truck as a lookout by the incident commander. That poor dude supposedly radioed to the commander about the change in wind direction, and had to sit there and watch as the flames over took the team. Hard to imagine anything harder to have to live with.
    Please forgive my armchair quarterbacking.

Just read that as well. From what I read, he was forced to evacuate his own position after reporting the change in wind direction, as flames where threatening him as well. From what I understand he was shifting his position as the flames over took the team, so it seems he was sparred actually seeing it.

Nothing to forgive, RJ. I know where you are coming from.
