I'm not saying anything against him but why does he care so much what Libertarian's think and believe? He's not in America it really doesn't affect his life in the U.K. or is there a sudden rise of a faction in the United Kingdom's political party that I have so far not heard of?

    Oh Indie

Just as you ignore all those criticisms that seem to show your ideas are so deeply flawed.

Come on man go back to those threads you’ve fled from and at least try and answer them

Bal, It's not a matter of ignoring your criticisms, the ONLY response you are willing to accept is one which agrees with your suppositions.

Having answered you numerous times in numerous ways, I recognize it to be a waste of time and effort. Go back and read my responses until you can comprehend them without need of suppositions.

Such arrogance as you exude tends to detract from any possibility of a gainful discourse.

Here, in this thread, a quiz with no right or wrong answers is posed. If you have a problem with that, don't take the quiz, but I'd really be interested in the results if you were to take it.

How does it differ from the questions that you ask, which tend to display how collectivist another is, or is not?

But as shown on many, many, many occasions you don’t respond you evade.

An old evasion trick of yours - you claiming you have answered in a rational and reasonable way but whenever asked for any proof that you have, you have NEVER been able to produce any.

Again if they are so numerous can you point me to one?

Again evasion you are giving an excuse for not answering when from past experience it would seem that you are unable to answer the criticisms raised.

I’ve read them and re-read them and I’ve tried to go through them with you - the problem is you evade answering or explaining.

I can give you many examples – how about the criticisms raised about the video you posted recently?

That’s just evasion – its misdirection you are trying to blame me for what seems to be your inability to address the criticisms raised.

As I’ve explained the thing about such ‘quizzes’ is that it just confirms people in their beliefs it does not test them.

To really understand the meaning of the result of this quiz you’d have to ask people to explain why they answered the questions in the way they did.

Just as I keep trying to get you to give such explanations.

Oh I have many interests, this forum is only a small one, and the fascination with the people posting stuff they seem unable to defend smaller still.

But it is fascinating – why would people continue to post stuff they know doesn’t seem to stand up to scrutiny and which they are completely and utterly unable to defend from criticism?

    Don’t you find that intriguing?

    Bal,

Are you claiming there is but ONE correct answer, yours, and all other answers are wrong?

Obviously the quiz pertains to ones economic beliefs, but what is it that you feel makes your beliefs in that area correct and all others wrong?

    Not this trick again.

More misdirection - I’ll reply the say way I have the other 999 times you’ve said it

NO I don’t think there is one correct answer, and as I have explained to you on numerous occasion that that’s because there isn’t only one question.

But some ideas do seem to stand up to criticism better than others, you seem totally unable to defend your ideas from criticism even when repeatedly asked to do so and I’m happy to answer your criticisms of my views (and have done) however the main argument you seem to have against my ideas is that you don’t like them because you don’t like them, which as I’ve pointed out to you many times is not really a rational or reasonable argument.

The Austrian school - Well the original poster and I go way back and his economic ideas didn’t seem to stand up very well in the past. Like here - Post 505 onward for example. You must remember you were in the same thread.

I’m very happy to go back and carry on.

Well Bal, we do agree that there are more than one question. Then I have to ask is there but one correct answer to each individual question?

Ideas and criticisms are each based on a point of view. You seem to claim that there is but one 'correct' point of view, and of course that too is simply a point of view.

Perhaps it should also be pointed out to you that what you define and promote as rational and reasonable is also from a perspective that matches your point of view.

If the original poster subscribes to the Austrian school, then I'm sure he/she and I have views much more in common with each other than you and I, therefore I would expect that they would not stand up in relation to your views.

Go back? and carry on? Isn't that what you do regardless of the thread topic?

    And we get more evasion

    Indie

There can be differing views or answers on anything some of which seem to stand up to criticisms and some that do not. Often you don’t answer questions and the views you have presented you seem unable to defend from criticism.

AS I’ve told you before if my (and others) criticisms are so weak, bad, simplistic, irrational and unreasonable then they should be easy to tackle, so why instead do you constantly evade?

I mean come on man if you could trash my criticisms and my views you would and then dance on their grave, but you seem totally incapable of doing so.

My point about the thread still stands - to me it’s not how much of a right wing libertarian someone is but if right wing libertarian ideas stand up to criticism.

So far the ideas haven’t - because no right wing libertarian seems able to defend them from criticism.

    Bal,

Unlike you, and some others, it is not my intent to bash your views, although we may find them unacceptable and both irrational and unreasonable from a differing point of view.
The primary difference I find between your views and those of us who oppose them for numerous and not necessarily the same reasons is that more often than not your views require government imposition and costs greatly exceeding the benefits you claim they provide to society overall.

I can't think of any way to put it more clearly or concisely than that, so what ever "it seems to mean" to you is not worth the effort to try and make any clearer if you have not yet understood.

Go ahead and respond with some more name calling and derogatory remarks if you like, but I have nothing more to add.

Oh come on man pull the other one – you’ve bashed many in your time - you have personally called me a number of things over the past two years or so - some that I’ve had to warn you about.

What you constantly have failed to do it defend your ideas from criticism.

I know your viewpoint (I think most people here do) what I’m asking you to do it defend your views from criticism.

We went through at length about ‘government imposition’ in the Small Government thread – you still haven’t addressed the criticisms of your views.

As to the beneficial or adverse effects of differing policies that has come up in multiple threads (try the Effort or Luck one for example) and you still have not addressed the criticisms that your ideas would bring about policies that would adversely effect the majority of people in the society where they were adopted. As well as the societies themsleves

If you cannot think of any way to address the many criticism still outstanding, meaning you can’t think of anything with which to defend the ideas you have - then I have to ask why do you have them? As well as the societies themselves.

Why would anyone hold onto views they can’t defend from criticism?

It was not a pass/fail type quiz, but your handle choice kind of led me to believe you might lean towards being a liberal Democrat, so you might be pleased with your score from your own point of view.

12/100. Would Somalia be a good example of libertarianism in practice?

But it is not libertarian governed. There is no libertarian governed nation yet, but Hong Kong, were it not for mainland China, might be an example of 'some' libertarianism in practice.
