Hi, I had tor on my old shitty laptop and I remember having to type something in to my firewall settings in order to view the hidden services. Now I want to do the same on this laptop (windows 7). Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Hello, nope, I don't understand the question . It's my understanding that you changed the client. In that case there should be no reason to change the firewall again. Except if you use a feature like mac security. If you think about the packet filter on the client itself, there is a FAQ in the docs at www.torproject.org explaining firewalled ports and how to deal with them. IIRC you can either open ports at the packet filter or tell tor that you are in a restrictive environment. Regards Gyro
i guess i'll give that a read and see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong. Unless the ONLY website working on the hidden services right now is SR, I can't figure out why i can't go to other ones.
Hello, depending on the type of hidden service you want to use you need to open ports for outgoing traffic on your local packet filter, e.g. ssh needs port 22. I don't know anything about windows, but if you think the packet filter is the cause of your problems you might want to have a look at the logs. The packet filter should log dropped connections somewhere. Regards Gyro
