Jim Carrey, star of Kick-Ass 2, has withdrawn support for the film following the Sandy Hook massacre.

Carrey tweeted on Sunday: "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.

"My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart," he added.

He doesn't do violence (unless you count Batman) - so what changed?

I saw the first kick ass movie and I agree, these movies have a very high level of violence. I can understand him withdrawing his support. While kickass are creative movies, they also glorify violence. With the violence in the news that has surfaced, he doesn't feel comfortable supporting violence..
Jim Carrey seems like a great guy. I'm a big fan.

I have been a bigger fan of his since he presented his stance against gun violence. The Cold Dead Hand parody was brilliant.

If Jim Carrey's backing out this might be a movie I want to see.

lol Jim Carey has always been one with the idgaf attitude towards other peoples opinions of him.. But really i think it's funny that he's backing out of this movie now if anything it will probably get more media attention and get people to want to see what all the fuss is about now that he's being all OMG the tragedy.. Hollywood sensationalism as its best right here.. LOL

What an idiot. And as far as guns, if he has a problem with that he can just go back to Canada.

More likely he has seen the final product, realised the movie is shit and now wants to distance himself from it.

I thought the first one was awesome, but theres a certain vibe about the second one, I think its going to be lame

Don't they get a script before making a movie... I think it is kind of lame to withdraw after partaking in such a thing which costs a lot to make. Not that I care about actors and their motives to play a role or not in general. I judge a movie by the movie itself and what it's about. The first Kick ass was entertaining and that is what I judge it by. Do I look forward to the sequel? Not really :p
