It seems that the new marijuana industry in Washington is attracting interest from the corporations. People now fear that it will become a problem as has been the case with tobacco and alcohol, where the big money concerns get involved with legislation and distribution. http://www.columbian.com/news/2013/jun/03/big-marijuana-in-washington-concerns-rise/
Meh. With the obsession over regulation and health with regards to pot, there won't be additives and shit, I expect. Either way, you don't have to buy their shit, we got along okay without it since '37. Other than the effects on the weed, I could care less about the legal changes that the pot industry causes. One thing they won't lobby for is prohibition, and that's what matters.
"And, under state law, Holcomb notes, every investor and part-owner in a legal marijuana business must be a Washington resident for at least three months to get licensed. That includes all shareholders. So big tobacco and pharmaceutical companies will not be growing legal pot in Washington unless the law changes or they figure out a way around it." They will. They spent years fighting it, but now that it is legal they won't be losing out on the profits. The pharmaceutical industry particularly is already all over this.
There is only one benefit of big companies getting involved in the mj business and that is that they have the money to influence washington to legalize it nationwide.
