It's kinda crazy how many companies are owned by Comcast. I remember many many years ago Comcast was pretty much a local- well, a (growing) regional company but it wasn't like this. Shakes head. They own a lot.
Comcast owns... the NBC network, Universal Studios theme parks, Universal Pictures film studio and cable channels USA Network, Bravo and MSNBC, Plaxo, Fandango, Fancast, Daily Candy, and Comcast.net and... hockey teams? and other things.
We owed Comcast like $150 before and shut off our internet service and were stealing it from the neighbor and Comcast actually put a stop on us using it w a message to "call Comcast to reinstate our service".. neways 11 months later ended up having to pay them and got service back but yea... I have a family member that works for them.
Verizon sent us money back when we shut off our phone thru them to go back to Comcast. Comcast kept giving us faulty equiptment for the tv and not shipping the correct boxes and stuff when they said they were going to... leaving us w.out service until finally I was like fuck this shit im coming in there to get the freaking xfinity box. sheesh. of course was being charged the whole time Comcast was just... doing whatever the hell it was doing but yea... whatever.
Wait... I thought Comcast was owned by NBC, which is owned by General Electric, which is one of the biggest defense contractors in the US. It doesn't matter either way, since they're all one entity behind the names.
I think it's the reverse. NBC etc all all owned by Comcast. And Comcast bought GE's remaining stake in NBC.
The Comcast Center is right across the street from my office building. They both connect through the concourse, I always find it hilarious how much nicer everything there is. They have so much better food places than us. The building is pretty cool too. I think I've had cable 2 years out of the 6 years I've been living here, it's so much better without it. I use clear for my internet now. It sucks.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBCUniversal "NBC Universal was formed in August 2004 by the merger of General Electric's NBC with Vivendi's Vivendi Universal Entertainment.[5][6] GE and US cable TV operator Comcast announced a buyout agreement for the company on December 3, 2009. Following regulatory approvals, the transaction completed on January 28, 2011. Comcast subsequently owned 51% of NBC Universal while GE owned 49%.[6][7][8] Comcast intended to buy out the rest of GE's stake over the following seven years, but nothing happened until February 12, 2013, when Comcast announced its intention to complete the purchase all at once and assume 100% ownership of the company by the end of March.[9][10] The deal was finalized on March 19, 2013.[11]"
