The most overrated synth pop album ever, by the most overrated synth pop band, though the album has two or three really good songs. Still, sounds like a commercial product to me.
I agree it's overrated, but not more than the band themselves. Well, they had a distinctive sound at least, but still, very overrated band. Their debut was probably their best album, however.
Terrible album, can't stand the Eagles. The White album was groundbreaking, highly experimental. The Beatles really pushed rock, I am still amazed at the range of music and different styles they employed. Pink Floyd's Dark Side is also very good and probably one of their best, although the Ummmagumma and Wish You Were Here are also very good. Never like The Wall much: so here it is, overrated. Early Floyd gets no airplay and the other stuff is run into the ground. And I have to agree with Skip, but that's probably because he's almost as old as I am.
That may be the case. I've just found the whole Band to be a bit overrated as I got older. That doesn't mean they're bad though.
Just saw the Doors thing. I think they are a vastly underrated band myself. They only made two bad albums and both were after Morrison. Very distinctive sound. You can tell a Doors song from the first three notes, and no one has ever duplicated their sound. Outstanding lyrics, basic raw instrumentals that have that driving quality. And again a nice range of styles. Listen to Spanish Caravan, then Break on Through, or Horse Latitudes, they never recorded a mediocre song; except for those last two albums (Other Voices and Full Circle).
They came from an era where Albums could stand alone, but the Doors is probably the only band from the 60s that I'd rather listen to a greatest hits album than LA woman on it's own. Savvy? I love Spanish Caravan by the way.
K, and this one is sooooo very overrated. I don't understand why every american college kid is obsessed with Dave Matthews:
In high school, DMB seemed to be big amongst girls on the National Honors Society. God I hate that band.
You are wrong. That's OK, everybody makes mistakes sometimes. I'm going to take this one as a singular error of judgement. But you are wrong.
