Me....but Im not sure i understand your question....I am a born hedonist....and a follower of mary Shelleys...
Judging by the obvious lack of recent posts here, there are not too many hedonists now on Earth. Everybody fasts, keeps celibacy, avoids wine and rum in their goblets, and in every possible way torments their flesh… what a pity.
women wine and song. That's my philosophy. I don't know if I qualify as a hedonist, but I think I'd get along just fine with them.
I don't think the philosophy or the practice are going away. I think people are becoming increasingly paranoid about posting honestly about such things online. Not many folks are so self-sufficient that they know for sure they will never again need anything from a moral conservative who is good at finding people online. Some think it is more important than ever before for hedonists to fly under the radar, speaking openly about our values only with people known to share them, face to face, or on a voice phone call. Well...that, too. :cheers2:
It is plenty of fun to receive replies to a message you posted six years ago But why is that, Karen? I completely agree that we should be careful about what we are saying, although, in my particular case, after some of my poems have been published under my real name on the web, I don't know what else I might say to make the situation worse Speaking seriously, it doesn't seem to me that modern society is somewhat ascetic. The very importunity of consumerism is a proof that we don't live amongst cowled monks and nuns, and I would rather expect chaste behavior from an anarchist than from someone like George Bush or Sarah Palin. The first historical hedonist, Aristippus, wasn't exactly a proponent of dissolution and licentiousness. He just said that it is good to enjoy life whenever you want it, but by no means pleasure should be your master. By the way, excuse me my ignorance: what's L&S?
What can I say? Some subjects are timeless. Very few of us are so self-sufficient that we know for sure we will never again need anything from any social conservative who is very good at searching for people online. Even retired folks sometimes have to return to the workforce after a financial setback. Employers tend to associate hedonism with antisocial behavior such as stealing. I doubt if many of them realize that our primary reason for not stealing from our employer would be the same as for most of their other employees; the risk of being caught and punished. He may have been the first to write about it, but the concept is timeless. I don't think you have to study it academically to fully grasp the basics. Love & Sex forum sections.
The best hedonism I've seen lately was from this japanese pornchick playing a schoolteacher in one of the tubes. Man! She could really give good hedonism!! Some of the best hedonism I've seen. :drool5:
