G.I. Joe: Retaliation Movie Blurb by Shale March 30, 2013 This is the sequel to the August 2009, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=375110 Channing Tatum reprises his role as Duke and his next in command is Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock. There is a new guy, Flint (D.J. Cotrona) and Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki). Duke, Flint & Roadblock Bonding Well, action is what this PG-13 movie is about and it really delivered on that, I'm sure to the delight of 13-year-old boys (and me). So, no real need to tell too much of the story. We left off on the last movie when the President of the U.S. (Jonathan Pryce) was captured by COBRA and replaced with an imposter (Arnold Vosloo) whose face has been altered by nanites to look like the prez. He calls in a strike on the Joes while they are on a mission retrieving nuclear warheads from Pakistan and almost the whole unit is wiped out. They figured it must be the prez who ordered it and went into hiding. Duke & Roadblock in Action The Joes regroup back in the states at Roadblocks old 'hood and hang out in an old boxing gym. Flint, Roadblock & Lady Jaye Hiding Out Then they contact General Joe Colton (Bruce Willis) the original GI Joe and who helps arm them and devise a plan to stop COBRA who has been sprung from his elaborate prison deep underground and who has put in plans to take over the world. (As you may have seen in the trailers, London gets trashed - totally) Roadblock & Gen. Joe Colton Also among the team is Snake Eyes (Ray Park) who captures his nemesis Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-hun) with the help of Jinx (Elodie Yung) in a running Ninja battle in the Himalayas on the side of mountains suspended by ropes. Did I say action? (BTW, I saw this movie in 2-D and it was quite good. IDK if 3-D can make it that much better) Not much more to tell you about the story. It's easy enuf to follow and it does make sense as it unfolds amid all the action. And that is what we go to see in these movies, back-to-back action. I enjoyed it.
I saw this, found it entertaining. I had not seen any of the trailers or the previous film but there were a couple scenes I found rather surprising given the type of movie it is. I also got a fairly dystopia vibe from it which I found rather unsettling in an effective way. That Lady Jaye is smokin hot.
Huh?? Of course it was not meaningful, it's a fucking GI Joe fantasy movie. Its whole purpose was mindless entertainment. Why would you go to such a movie then say it is "not meaningful?"
