Please help me. I have researched this to no avail. Apart from a plain old woolen coat what could I buy? Maybe a plain old woolen coat is the answer? I keep a lady like wardrobe of shifts and jeans and woolen pants for winter. I really feel the cold. I want a good stylish coat that is going to last for years to come. Most probably in black. I know it only gets down to 12 in Sydney but for me its totally freezing. I was just trying to be prepared. I just got posted a fake Canada Goose Womens parka. I didn't even order the parka I ordered the mystique womens coat. Their new season coat. Beautiful. Now that I've had a big lesson in counterfeiting I'm thinking my unflattering; too large; ugly $317.00 fake parka can go to charity AND, now what? After surfing Canada gooses site and after them going on and on about the fakes on the market their link to authorised websites was broken. I must have done about 5 days worth of research first finding the fake unbeknownst to me and then spotting it. Plus with a little more detective work I worked out they probably cost $750 which I'd be willing to save up for, but then they won't ship to Australia. Gosh. I'm just feeling a bit over Canada Goose. So now what. What is a stylish, good, WARM coat I can buy does anyone know please? And where oh where can I buy it from, preferably avoid china this time. lol. Preferably not as much as $750 either as I mean it'll be half way through winter by the time I save up for it (again, sigh). I am an Australian size 12 with a tall lean physique. And I'd like something I'd be just as happy to go to the shop or the ballet in. But really warm. Sorry for the rave thanks for reading long long day sigh.
Yeah we should buy those things which runs long time especially woolens. If you have money to burn, you probably won’t relate to what I’m about to say. I, on the other hand, watch our family’s budget like a hawk and don’t really splurge all that often on extras unless there is a viable reason for it.
I suggest something like a black trench coat with a zip-out liner. The simpler the better, no belt if possible. Can't go wrong with a coat like that! (Or a shorter "car-length" coat.) I wish I could suggest a retailer - I've been looking for one like this for a while now but haven't had any luck. I've also been looking for the perfect hooded cape. J Peterman sometimes sells them but they are quite pricey and I haven't seen them offer the right style/color/warmth level yet.
With shop or ballet, you are looking at a fitted coat. You seem OK with animal product so, yes a wool coat is likely your best bet. They are popular in thrift shops in the US. An alternative is a trench with zip out fleece lining.
browse around consignment and/or thrift shops you'll find something. or get a pea coat, they're woolen and warm you can layer underneath it, dress it up or wear with ripped jeans and a tshirt, wear with scarves or whatever. i personally enjoy a good army coat which you can get from a second hand store, fatigue green with a liner, of course i make it my own and desecrate it (it is for military purpose afterall) with patches and buttons. (okay maybe some of my suggestions can't be used for going to the ballet) but I would suggest a carhartt jacket, it will last you years, i work on a farm so it's my number one choice. they're work jackets, designed to withstand harsh weather, being out in the brush, doing heavy labor. I think they make some wool ones too, most of them are lined, not too sure, but I know they are pro-union and try not to outsource too much.
The US Navy issues a pea coat (very warm) a utility jacket, and an "all weather coat with liner" which is like a trench coat. The warmest by far is the peacoat. I got a sweatshirt material jacket for this year, same shape as the peacoat, which is classic, sexy, and flattering. If you use sweaters try different sizes to allow for enough movement.
I'd add that I lived many years where I often saw negative degrees Fahrenheit, and down is the only way to go in that. (I did get used) For a temperate clime like Sydney, I'd think, oh, the local shops would have coats. The secret to warmth is layers.
Most coats are made of material that are warm enough for solving the purpose but in order to include style in it then mostly it is brands that are chosen for making a purchase. So if its just for wearing then any design can be preferred otherwise it is a little difficult to look for a combination.
