- There's an artist, Nathalia Edenmont, who kills cats, mice, doves, RABBITS, and other animals, mutilates their bodies, and then takes their photographs. She's on exhibit, among other places, at the Wetterling Gallery in Sweden. She has taken the top halves of five white mice and made them into finger puppets. She beat a cat to death with a stick. And this is called art. This is not only inhumane, but morally reprehensible. What a sick bitch. She needs to be locked up in a sanitarium somewhere and taught how to shuffle back and forth up and down a hallway endlessly for the rest of her life. After she's beaten in the name of art of course.
Thats definately art, modern art with the aim of provoking a reaction, not any different from half a cow in formaldhyde or a screwed up bit of paper. And its quite pretty in a way, though i dont know if id put it on my wall..
It was visibly appealing to me as well, but that is no justification for the inhumane treatment of animals. We don't really need to chop off an animal's head to make it look like an animal's head has been chopped off in a photograph anymore. Human's are beyond the point where we need to be needlessly inhumane. We never should be at that point in any time.
There are plenty of other ways to get the effect she is going for. When I was in Art School a few friends of mine were experimenting in that kind of work as well... Difference being we would search out road kill and already dead animals, yeah it was disgusting, but at least they didnt kill the animals for their work...
I just read her justification for this. She says we think its ok to kill for food and clothing but not art. she doesn't see a difference. While I think art is important, its not as basic to life as the above. I just hope she dosen't get famous for doing "controversal" work
I cant say I agree at all with her justification at all on this matter. The art itself doesnt do anything for me, all it does is disgust me and doesnt provoke any thoughts but "What a disgusting bitch." Being a very strong lover of all animals I cant say I'm not biased, but I think she should switch her focus maybe on bringing out the beauty in the living animals. Thats just my take on this. ~Fooj~
Just sick. If she was a real "artist", she would find a way to create this crap w/o using real animals. I can't stand her.
