I think the most popular fetish is feet fetish, but for me, feet are a huge turn off...

 

i hope you drain the hot tub often. peeing upsets the chemical balance, and since hot tubs have a relatively small amount of water in them it is much easier to throw the chemicals off significantly.

If talking in general terms, I think ass fetish is a pretty common one. Foot fetish is also very common.

I don't think there is a "most popular" fetish. I think if there was solid research into every main umbrella kink: pee, incest, BDSM, furries... etc. Obviously, something would win out as more common statistically than the others. And I feel confident that whatever would prove most reported by participants, it'd top the others by less than one percentage point.

The reason I feel so confident in that is because, if anything is objectively popular -- the way feet and choking and dom/sub paradigms have entered most people's sexual diction -- it's not a kink or a fetish or a sexual paraphelia. That's just a particular turn-on for you. And you probably got into it as it became more acceptable and common among partnered sex, choking would be a prime example. As for the dom/sub rough sex thing, unless one of you is bringing a goddamn suitcase to bed, that's not BDSM. It's just fun bossy assertive sex.

Here's the deal, in order for it to be a true fetish, it can't be that popular. The three most essential qualifying factors for any sexual paraphilia are that it's gotta be DEEPLY personal (i.e. not common enough to be "popular.") You gotta have had it since before you were even aware it made you sexually aroused. And -- this one has its exceptions but in general -- it can't be a sexual act in and of itself. No offense to anyone here, but even feet is not a fetish. It's just a body part you find sexy. I feel the same way about collar bones and hip bones and baggy eyes.

Think of it this way, if you act on the fact that feet turn you on, what are you doing? Either masturbating to someone's feet or having someone stimulate your genitals with their feet. Feet are not an act. The thing you're doing to get off to them is.

People with a diaper fetish don't necessarily have an orgasm when they engage in the act. They feel aroused and sexually euphoric when peeing in a pair of diapers, and/or having their diaper changed by someone else. But that's not inherently a sexual act. Whatever wires got crossed in their brain, made it sexual to them. Get it? I feel like I'm sounding like a total dick right now. And I'm really not harshing anyone's trip. I swear. Please, be into feet. Or getting slapped during sex. I like the latter myself.

In fact, what I'm frustrated with is that the constant mislabeling of popular but personal turn-ons as "kinks" and "fetishes," has honestly harshed MY trip and further suppressed a sex-positive national conversation around true fetishes. Feel free to yell at me about the feet thing.

No yelling. Only explaining. A sexual fetish is defined as a form of sexual desire in which gratification is strongly linked to a particular object or activity or a part of the body other than the sexual organs. So rubbing a womans foot and/or sucking her toes while jacking off (wanking for you Brits) and cumming or achieving gratification because of it is a fetish for feet, ie: a foot fetish. This and other fetishes are appropriate to talk about on this forum and have been done so.
