You know what? I'm gonna really become a volunteer in Turkey in May!!! I heard your words and took some steps. Your advice was very valuable for me.
Hey that's really cool. Many people say they wanna do something idealistic but never go for volunteer work in the end So what kind of job do you have there? Teaching?
No, I'm afraid I'm not patient enough to be a teacher. But I'm gonna take part in organizing a youth festival in city called Mugla. And later in summer I can go saving animals in Belgian wildlife rescue center. I FEEL GOOD!!! :sunny:
I am going through very much the same thing, and I wrote about it in this thread http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=467167&f=509 And here's a thread from someone also going through something similar. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=458034&f=12 good advice! I've done that and learned i don't like working too heavily with people; I'm an introvert and I get tired from too much people interaction. I do enjoy efficiency and mediating and administration. Here's my list of possible jobs; some seem pretty silly and far off, but I just wanted to list everything and kind of brainstorm. possible jobs artist therapist healer farmer first mate yoga instructor astrologer librarian
haha, no, I don't speak turkish at all. I don't even know the stupid words. I know only "kebab". but we'll be given a turkish lessons. and also lessons of turkish folklore dance. it sounds good to me.
Personally, I know the following hippies.. one who tried working at a funeral home but quit and is living with his parents, one who works a stand at Phish shows and travels with them, one is a psychologist, one that worked at Zero's subs but made real money selling drugs, a ton of pot growers and sellers, a good few that sell molly and acid and more extreme to some stuff. Oh also I do know two couples with and organic farm and one. Personslly.. I have an "adaptive" high-school diploma and no college. I've never worked a day in my life. I draw disability. I do have an herb garden at home lol. On the side I sell paintings and watch kids.. under the table stuff that I enjoy. Hope you enjoy your volunteer work!
I find what works so far is to find a job that allows you to act based in a way that coincides with your morals, ethics and standards. For example, as a Nursing Assistant I'm given the opportunity to help others.

Hello guys! I've just arrived home from my volunteering in Turkey. Oh my God! That was really time of my life! )) The most amazing thing that I have ever done in my life (at least for now, I believe the best things are yet to come). And I fell in love with veeeeery atractive Turkish masseur. But the problem is that now I'm back home and I have the same problem like before - I am jobless and totally out of money. But during my volunteering I found that I'm really good at face painting. I was doing it in Turkey for children for free. I think I'm a good painter but this was the first time I tried face painting and I loved it. It was fun! I liked it very much and kids were crazy about it. It would be perfect if I could do this for money. I'm just afraid I will need thousands of official papers and permissions in Slovakia and the process can take several months. :-/
hey! I'm also going to do some volunteering in Turkey, too. I'm actually a student in Izmir province of Turkey. Also, it's good that you are travelling while you are thinking of your future and what it's going to be, after all.
