A long time ago I remember reading a thread on here about a guy who went onto some fora and claimed he was from the future, and explained some things. Does anyone have the link to the thread, or the fora where he posted? I found it really interesting to read, although I was a bit skeptical about it, and I would really appreciate it.

I think you mean John Titor.. www.johntitor.com has got basically everything to do with him. I don't think his predictions are true, but it's possible he did travel back in time, the theory behind it sounds legimate..

John Titor was a lier. I AM open minded,I believe that anythings possible. BUT I read this:

    He was born 1998

    * a couple of paragraphs later*

The police has no records of him whatsoever. His existance is unknown.

    ----
get the point? And some of his predictions were wrong. He talked about something happening in Feb.2004.I don't completely remember what it was.( I read this in a magazine called nexus, a couple of months ago.). And some of the predictions seem most unlikely.

It seems like he wants to implant the whole nuclear war thing in today's youths mind. So that the US will attack Russia in advance, because the US believes in his claims . It seems that, for some reason, he wants the war. If he wanted to actually WARN us, he should've warned us from bush...>.<,Bush's the cause of the current war.And he didn't mention him AT ALL, however, he mentioned things that COULD happen.

I actually believe John doesn't exist, if you go to the site, it will seem like it was created by one person. Why would he have contact with only ONE person? The person may claim he interviewed him, but how does he know that John was special enough to interview? He must have SOMEHOW found out about him. And he sais he doesn't know where to find him. How can you interview if you have no contact? If you piece it all together, it doesn't make any sense. Therefore I believe john's fictional.

    well...that's about it!
but that's really interesting to look at anyway. If you're not picky about that one detail, it may as well be VERY believable . Besides, it's got interesting theories. I say the guy who created that site is an evil genius

*gos searching for info explaining HOWCOME he believes that old computer does this interesting stuff .* hehe...

    You'll most likely disagree...but that's just what I believe.Please don't hurt me! ^^;

After reading it, I really don't know if I believe him. Some of his predictions seem a bit far-fetched, like decentralized government in the future. I guess anything can happen, though. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard for someone very smart and well-spoken to go online and make false claims like that. I guess we'll never know.

One more problem with Titor... I haven't seen the connection drawn anyplace else, but, has anyone read the novel Alas, Babylon, by Pat Frank?

I'm rereading it right now, so I decided to search Titor's name, see if anyone else had made the connection.

Titor's post-nuclear universe bears a striking resemblence to this book.

    - identical setting (central Florida).
    - The breakdown into city-states.
    - the attack comes from Russia (which made a hell of a lot more sense when Frank wrote the book in the 1950s, btw)

There were many more cross-reference points. I'll take notes on this read-through & list them here.
