I have for a long time not been much of a royalist. When I heard about the supposed scandel of one of Princess Dianna's staff being sent out to buy girlie books for her two sons, I became quite impressed.I thought this woman was enlightened. She endorsed and respected her two sons' sexuality instead of repressing it.

years later, it amazes me the way people keep trying to make her life scandalious.

This "scandal" seems ridiculous to me, too. Still, though, if I never heard anything 'bout Diana again for the rest of my life, well, that'd be just swell...

    I didn't like her.
Not that I resented her either.
All in all she seemed to be a great Mum to her boys and she did carry out her duties stoically.
Personally, I think Charles showed himself an amazing Father to the boys and has my respect.
I lost a lot of respect for Diana somewhere after she started dating that rich and spoiled creepy guy and showing up at Hollywood parties with her 100,000 dollar bobbles.

I dunno.. I dont buy all the 'wild exposes' being written about her either.. I just dont care for her style.

All the Royals are expected a certain amount of Causes to be involved in.
Now.. dont take that wrong, just because they are expected to, doesnt mean they dont truly back the cause they are involved in.

Diana was involved in her fair share of causes just like Charles and all the Royals.
As I said.. she did indeed carry out her duties faithfully.

Im not entirely sure how you can disregard Charles for being Posh then decide he is a Pleb hehe ?
    ;)

Personally, Im a huge fan of the emerging Harry.
I said that lad would be a right cheeky little prankster and he is proving it true.
Ha.. we all need a Royal with a GSOH and Harry is up to it!

who cares honestly? She was a rich spoiled brat who tried to pretend to relate with common people. Yeah, she helped some people and got great photo ops while doing it.

Is there anyone in the royal family that is not an absolute joke?

I guess where i got 'Turned off' Diana was when after she fell away from the Royal Family but 'seemed' to be looking for a new life of fame and fortune as 'One of the people' .. a kind of 'anti-royal' .. just like one of you.

Im not really describing it right but maybe you get my drift.

Keep in mind. .. she NEVER became a 'regular person' but instead was to marry into an extremely wealthy family and persue a career in Hollywood.

But hey.. she sure as hell didnt deserve to die young.
Tough ending for all involved there.

In my country there used to be reference to the Kennedy family being from Camelot. That family was certainly plagued by demons and defects of character. I cannot imagine what the late Princess' life must have been like to be primed for a life that was of universal importance and high visibility.

I cannot imagine what it must be like to have your mother-in-law be the Queen of England.

Lady D was a nanny before she became a princess and she seemed to have a genuine interest and love in "molding the breed". She had a husband who was not faithful to her. She enjoyed creature comforts.

She seemed to have a decent soul. She certainly looked pretty in the pictures. She liked good food and dancing. And they still talk about how she repeated her husband-to-be's name incorrectly when she repeated it during her wedding vows.

The woman died a tragic death at a very young age. She was being chased by the media.

I say remember her as a beacon of light and love. I don't think I'd last through four o'clock tea with her family let alone spend the rest of my life with them.

    Tribute by Elton John

    "Goodbye England's rose,

may you ever grow in our hearts.

You were the grace that placed itself

    where lives were torn apart.

You called out to our country

and you whispered to those in pain

    Now you belong to heaven,

and the stars spell out your name.

And it seems to me you lived your life

like a candle in the wind

    never fading with the sunset

    when the rain set in.

And your footsteps will always fall here

    along England's greenest hills;

your candle's burned out long before

    your legend ever will.

    Loveliness we've lost;

these empty days without your smile.

    This torch we'll always carry

    for our nation's golden child

    And even though we try,

    the truth brings us to tears;

    all our words cannot express

the joy you brought us through the years.

    Goodbye England's rose

from a country lost without your soul

who'll miss the wings of your compassion

    more than you'll ever know."

If I was Marilyn Monroe I would be waiting at the gates of Heaven for Elton John with a clenched fist.
