Smoking ganja for Rastafari only?

Hi fellow smokers. My rasta friend Hoppy Hip Lion told me that only Rastafari can smoke ganja and that you are not allowed to call marijuana ganja if you are not a Rastafari.
I am not sure if he was joking or serious, so that is why I came here to ask you guys. Hope you can help me out?!?

Your friend is probably referring the the fact that "marijuana" was a term given to weed to tie it to Mexican immigrants and encourage reefer madness. They said mexicans smoke marijuana and rape white women, so all the white people got scared and outlawed it.

Rasta's do not like the term because it is a negative word given to a holly plant. So they make a point to never use the word marijuana, ganja is their word. But I have never heard of it being a word only for Rastafarians

 

you can call it whatever you want and everyone is free to smoke whatever they want, and if anyone else says otherwise they're against freedom!
