Hey you all -- My faithful shoes, which I have worn for the past two and a half years, have finally fallen apart on me. The soles have cracked in half, and I might as well not be wearing any (which would actually be nicer... but impossible in school.) So I'd like to make some for myself. Anyone have any shoemaking experiance, or know of any webpages that could help me? Thanksyalot. -Maj Pcnk
When I was in Chile they poorer people there made their shoes out of old tires. I don't know how to make them but they were sandal style and would last forever. They looked neat. That's about all I know of shoemaking. Saje
I saw some simple but fantastic sandals and boots at the Ren Faire a couple of years ago. They were made of a single piece of suede, with a tougher sole attached. The suede piece was cut something like a fish skeleton, where the sole of the foot would be the backbone. Does that make sense? Then, holes were punched at the end of each "rib" and it was all laced together. Sorry, this is probably impossible to follow... Maybe I can draw and scan what I was talking about next week when I have access to the computer labs again!
